Guest guest
How did you all go about picking which name you use? I'm assuming that all of you are not East Indian. Did you pick something that had special meaning for you?
Guest guest
Jessica, I think most of the very basic questions you are asking can be answered at least in part by reading the book *Am I a Hindu?* It's a good place to start with a very simple question and answer format. The naming question reminded me. It explains a lot of things and deals with complex questions very well. Also, understand it is only one perspective and that there are many, many, many perspectives out there that are equally valid. But it can be a decent primer, and tends to speak to traditional views. To answer the question at hand, I received my Sanskrit name (not Hindi, though it is the same in Hindi and Sanskrit) when I received diksha. -sundari On Mon, Sep 8, 2008 at 7:12 PM, Jessica <jessica.n.obrien wrote: > How did you all go about picking which name you use? They are not usually picked by the person in question.
Guest guest
One does not need a guru to convert to Hinduism, because there is no formal conversion process. I received my name through diksha when I entered the kaula, but there are many hindu converts who choose their own names. -sundari On Fri, Sep 12, 2008 at 7:30 PM, Ashley <herjazz wrote: > <%40>, > " Jessica " > <jessica.n.obrien wrote: > > > > How did you all go about picking which name you use?
