Guest guest
Dear Padmaja; I will explain for you and then for your daughter why there appears to me several Ma(s). In reality there is only ONE THING, and separation from this is an illusion. This is called advaita (oneness) and is important in Shaktism. If we see separations, this causes suffering. So try to see how well we are all united and that is best. This is for your daughter. How different is she from you? She came from you with a little help from daddy. But there is nothing in her that is not you and daddy. However, sometimes you dress up and go out hiking (maybe?) or gardening or something, sometimes you sing, and sometimes you are angry. There is angry Padmaja and singing Padmaja. What do you think, are they totally different ladies? Yet you feel a whole lot different singing and angry. So the differences are moods or what we name rasas. One Ma is, in essence advaita (united ) to the other but is separated by a wonderful rasa or mood or spirit. I hope this helps a little. Best to you and little one! Robb
Guest guest
This is one of the greatest contributions of Rishis and Munis of Hindu way of life to the mankind. The evolved beings like these Rishis knew absolutely for sure that there is ONLY ONE GOD. But they also realized that it is not so easy for all the millions of human beings to recognize that and be God Conscious in every walk of our daily life. It is the 'Mind' or 'Chitta' that is seen as primary root cause for all disparities in human life. Because thoughts and actions go where mind goes. A human being always follows his/her mind in all their actions/deeds. So! How to enable entire human race to have God Consciousness all the time, all the places under all circumstances. Not all are Rishis, Yogis, Munis or Saints. They devised a fantastic method to enable this. Knowing that mind could go wherever a 'desire' is, they placed a God Element in that direction. For example, people who desire for money, wealth, property, prosperity, etc. Goddess Lakshmi was placed. For people who desire for knowledge, arts, science, technology, dance, etc. Goddess Saraswathi was placed. For people who desire courage, love, compassion, parental duty, discipline, etc. Goddess Parvati was placed. The beauty is that each one of them were accompanied by their Divine Consorts to demonstrate the significance and value of male/female partnership in creating, sustaining and dissolving 'life'. No other religious beliefs / practices could even concieve / fathom / comprehend of this absolutely necessary concept. So, now for a Hindu, there is no escape from being God consciousness, because in every direction that our mind goes, Divinity is consecrated in a form. Even the folks playing in stock market pray to Lakshmi everytime they make a move. It is only in Hindu practice you can see business people incorporating God (Lord Venkateshwara) as their business partner and every year they even give Balaji's share of the profit in Tirupathi. It is only in Hindu practice you can hear of Aandal and Meera falling in love with God. These are not even comprehendible in other parts of the world. In Hindu practice, spiritualism is not a serious affair as everyone thinks and portrays. It is fun. It is attainable in anyway one wants. There is no one single best path. Because God is Omnipresent, how can there be only one way to reach it? Pranaams to all Shaktis. Guest guest
Namaste Sakti Thondan While I agree with your sentiment, saying no other system of belief had these ideas is false. Many pre-Christian belief systems acknowledged the necessity of the Divine Masculine and Feminine Principles in the universe. Sadly for us all, most of these traditions were all wiped out by the Abrahamic traditions. But even the mystics and seekers among them acknowledge the Divine Mother in her form as Shekinah, Mother Mary, or Sophia. Jai Maa! -- -S. Santo Sengupta " Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih.
