Guest guest
Oh, I don't think you need to apologize for anything. You brought up a very interesting topic, and yes, it was Devi-related. The thing about religious or political discussion in general, it brings out the good, the bad, and the ugly in people. salma , " Ashley " <herjazz wrote: > > I agree. Guest guest
I would like to share an experience of someone very close to me. A brahmacari ( Monk) was making advances towards her ( he is around 27), she told him to back off as he was?a monk and she did not want to get involved, in a personal SMS message and told no one else, and she got told off and banned from his talks and her regular voluntary work, so much so, that she had to ask by phoning if he would be at the events she was going to. He also told everyone and his seniors and her reputation was affected.? He intention was a quite back off message, it erupted into a huge thing. She is not allowed to be wherever he is. I think she has left ISKCON and does not think very much of the movement and its treatment of women. I know I will get told not to share this here. But I know some people will see why I have posted this JAI MAA!!!!
Guest guest
Also, it is important to make note of the fact that all those with the last name of dasa or das, and who are Vaishnavas, are not all ISKCON (Gaudiya Vaishnavas), and don't share the same views & theology. The theology of Gaudiya Vaishnavism is distinctly different from Sri Vaishnavism (Vasistha Advaita), Ramanandi Vaishnavism (which is also Vasistha Advaita) , Madhwa Vaishnavism, and numerous of other sects of Vaishnavism, etc. I personally believe that many Vaishnavas are also following Shaktism unbeknownst to themselves, by the worship of Lakshmi Devi, Tulasi Devi, and Sri Radha. Therefore, that's why i personally don't make a distiction Cannot Lakshmi devi, the consort of Lord Vishnu also be worshipped in the Sri Chakra? Is not Lord Hayagreeva, who gave the Lalitha Sahasranama (which is quintessential to Shaktism) to Sage Agastya, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu? The Padma Purana says " Vaishnavanam yatha Shambhu " (Lord Shiva is the best of all Vaishnavas). Is not Lord Hanuman Ji, the greatest devotee of Lord Rama an incarnation of Lord Shiva himself? If this be the case, then why the distinction of worshiping Lord Krishna or Vishnu's greatest devotee (Shivji)? After all, Lord Krishna also says, " even greater than the worship of myself is worship of my devotee. " I think that the spiritual maturity of certain individuals have to be taken into account, as even many ISKCON people themselves don't ascribe to certain views as mentioned earlier. Also, I believe this is very much DEVI related. My 2 cents. Guest guest
Humans are humans. There are going to be corrupt people in every group. I think this is an issue of putting unqualified individuals into a place that they are not prepared for (or simply should not be in). I have gotten to know a lot of people at my local ISKCON temple and have gotten a pretty healthy glimpse of their day to day lives and a glimpse into their mental workings. Most of these people are of healthy minds. Most of these people are not anti-female nor do they treat their fellow women with disrespect. However, as with any organized system, it is very easy for the wrong people to come in and do damage. Especially if they are around vulnerable people (and I do think that some of these people are unintentionally vulnerable). These types of people are everywhere and I don't think that isolated events can really represent the whole. Speaking of such, what religious movement has NOT had the same problem as you are mentioning here? , Dhani <miztrance wrote: > > > I would like to share an experience of someone very close to me.
