If it's possible, you might consider asking the person

who gave you the mantras for his or her instructions

with respect to japa.

If you type " how to do japa " or a similar phrase into

the google search box, you'll get lots of suggestions.

Here are a few:

hi,

the general things for jap are -do it in the morning

take a shower and wear clean

clothes

sit on a rug in padmasana/ on a

chair ,facing the east/ north

keep the back straight

say a mala at the least (108)

preferably stick to the same time

daily

if u miss a day, start frm scratch

at the end of 100,000

repetitions(varies wth different mantras), offer 5% in the fire

thats all i can think of,

in love and light,

sarada

Some good books to read on this would be: " Japa yoga " by Sivananda,

the " aghora " series by Svobodha, and " tantra:path of ecstacy " by

feuerstein georg.
