Guest guest
Namaste Group: I have a question about people who try to do mantra meditation and who then get headaches or people who hold rudraksha beads and get a headache from it. The individual who got a headache with the rudraksha beads was addicted to various drugs and had a variety of bad habits as well as extreme depression. This seems odd to me that a person would react this way. Has anyone else heard of this type of thing? I've heard about all sorts of weird reactions to Devi mantras, but I think these are related to the ego. Any ideas about this? Jai Maa! Guest guest
" Bottom line: Impurities, both mental & physical. " Thank you for confirming that. I suspected as much, but I wanted some feedback. Shanti Om, Shankari Enquire: 'Who am I?' and you will find the answer. Guest guest
My teacher said that such headaches are due to overheating of the nerves and cautions against people diving in too intensely without practicing detachment and learning to pacify the lesser mind. Most drugs burn the body and subtle bodies and it takes a while to heal the nervous system, detoxify, and clear away stagnation, so new practitioners should be cautious about overdoing it until they gain more experience. Devotion however is harmless and healing, and singing bhajans might do these folks a world of good.
