Guest guest
CELEBRATE MAKAR SANKRANTI AS PER YOUR FAMILY TRADITION: The paramatma who in the form of Atma in us is as effulgent as in the Sky as Surya Bhagavan. One has to meditate as Surya who makes us to realise Atma. Atma Swaroop Surya is Universe. He is Amruta Svarupa. He is time incarnate. He is Indra, Varuna and the inner self as Antaratman. Draupadi prayed to Surya Bhagwan every day for the well being of her husbands and family. " Aum Hrim Hrim Suriyaye Namah Aum'' Uttarayana Punyakalam, the day time of Devas, begins with the Makar Sankranti and lasts for six months. This period is ideal for all kind of auspicious activities. " Aum Hrim Hrim Suriyaye Namah Aum'' chant this mantra on Makar Sankranti atleast 108 times. Makara Shankranti signifies that we should turn away from the darkness of delusion in which we live, and begin to joyously let the light within us shine brighter and brighter. We should gradually begin to grow in purity, wisdom, and knowledge, even as the sun does from this day. " Japa Kusuma Sankasham Kashyapeyam Mahadhyutim, Tamorim Sarva Papadhnam Prantoami Divakaram " Wake up; all three levels; emotional, spiritual, and physical level, before sunrise, have bath. Worship the rising Sun, by offering water and flowers from a copper pot with both the hands at the same time recite Gayatri mantra. REST HE WILL TAKE CARE, HE WILL GRANT YOU WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE. Next offer water, tarpan to your ancestors and seek their blessings. Especially request Sri Bhagwan the awareness of the self-effulgent subjective divinity. I have always said talk to divinity; see what they say to you. Affirm the greatest importance of your spiritual goal very clearly, and pray to God to bless you with the capacity to constantly revel in your true self. May the graph of your rise like the Uttarayana Sun. May there be greater 'Love & Light' in your life & the world. Makar Sankranti is the day of offering food (daan) to those who do not have it. Prepare sweets and spread the sweetness to the world. `Well-being Prayer for all' gets manifested in action & deeds. Surya Bhagwan visits his son Shani today; now what should we do, put your difference with your son and daughter in law aside and visit them on Makar Sankranti. No matter where they are you visit your son at his place and give presents to the son and the daughter-in-law. If it is not possible to visit, then organize to send presents to them to express your love & affection to them. Make Khichadi which shows the simplicity in life. Til Sankranti or maker Sankranti Til or seasame seeds are used on this day for Bathing, for Massaging, for Havan (sacred fire ceremony), Tarpan with Til (oblations of water with Til), Til used as food, and Til is donated in charity. There is a reason for use of Til in Havan It is said that Til emanates from Vishnu's body and that if we use Til or sesame seeds , it will wash away all kinds of sins. How to do pooja to Surya Dev; Offer prayer to Sri bhagwan Ganpati; Karishyamaanasya karmanaha nirvigghnena Parisamaaptyarttham Aadhou mahaaganapati smaranam karishye So that the ceremonies we are about to undertake proceed to completion without any obstacles, we contemplate on Mahaganapati. Similarly the grihadevata, i.e. the family Godhead, needs to be invoked as He/She is ever present bestowing protection to the family at all times. Chant as follows: Gruha devataam ddhyayaami Ddhyaanam samarpayaami I respectfully contemplate our family Godhead. Bhagwan Sri Ram prior to his battle with Ravan (Evil) prayed to Devi, Shiv and Surya; these actions he took for his victory over evil. Recite Aditya hridayam on Makar Sankranti. Aditya hrudayam contains the innovative hymns with many secrets and hidden meanings. The Jnana, Jnata, and Jneyam is completed as Sage Agastya is the Jnana and the Lord Rama Jnata and the presiding deity Jneyam is Sun in the heart. Thus the Triputi is completed. Hence it has come to be known as Aditya hridayam. It is said that Consciousness in the man and in the cosmos Sun is the same. Absolute consciousness is being understood only with the help of speech. These mystic words are interwoven in these Slokas. The Slokas third to twenty four Synchronises with the twenty four letters of Gayatri Mantra. In Aditya hrudayam there are thirty Slokas in total. From Sixteenth to twentieth slokas are very important for mantra Japa. Here cosmic greatness of Sun God Surya as the internal Caitanya in us is high lighted. Further the creator is one and not two is explained in the shloka. The human body consists Sapta Dhatu's and in this dwells, only paramatma. The Slokas from Twenty to twenty four are Mantra Slokas extolling Sun God. From twenty fifth to thirtieth the method of recital by Sri Rama and invoking God to bless him with the requisite strength for the victory in the battle field is stated. Savita (Surya) is the God for Gayatri Mantra. The consciousness in the living being is a part of the Cosmic consciousness i.e. solar body. Hence Savitri is the bioenergy of human being.
