Guest guest
Hello all, Could someone shed some light on durga chalisa? Is there a specific period this needs to be chanted? What are the benefits of chanting this prayer to Goddess Durga? On Namaha Shivaya, Bob

Guest guest
Hi, I started out on the path with Durga Chalisa. I was really attracted to the Mother but did not have a Guru, and so picked up a Durga Upasana book and started reciting the Durga Chalisa everyday. The only rule I followed was doing it at the same time every day, which in my experience was pretty valuable. I recited the chalisa with all my heart -- it helped me channel my devotion, and prepared me for more that was to come. I'd say this: If you connect with Durga Chalisa (you know you connect if every time you recite, it produces almost the same uplifting effect and does not get mechanical within a few days), then stick with it and it'd take you to the next step of your sadhana. As far as the language goes, I was reciting it in Hindi, and not Sanskrit, and She heard me just the same. So, whatever works for you, works for Her. Joy to you! Guest guest
Namaste: One of the primeval forms of the Mother is Vak, or Divine Speech. All languages are one of Her innumerable gifts to us. Chant in whatever language you like! Jai Maa. -S. Santo Sengupta " Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih.
