Dear all:

 

I am starting a very daunting venture of creating an english commentary

of lalitopaakhyana. I am a paamara and I have been made bold to start a

daunting venture. Can i have your criticisms and directions?

us all the Lalitapaakhyana in english. I for one am very thankful that

you have undertaken this project and we are all blessed by your having

been moved by Goddess Lalitha to bring us this in english.

Dear Mr. Kochu,

You are indeed great since you are in a great service to Devi Upasaksa by

translating Lalithopakgyana , which is a Bagavatgita for Srividya. Iam expecting

some of your great knowledge is put in this book by also including ur practical

experiences correlating with Laltha Sahasranama.

I have need a clarification for  " Pancha Prethasana " . The meaning of this is

told as Devi is seated on Brahma , Vishnu, Rudra and Maheswara as legs and sadha

siva as seat. But why they are called as Pretha ??

Kindly clarify if possible.

I am not a schowler but, as I said, a fool. Even to have thought of such a

venture is rather an audacious act. I know I can complete upto 33rd chapter

without difficulty in a few months. But 34-40 I have no idea whether it will be

just litteral meaning or something more. Many stalwarts were stopped at 33 from

proceeding further in detail. We have to see HER will.

Regarding the use of the word " preta " or corpse, it must be remembered that

there there is an adage " Shakti vinaa shiva - shava " Without Shakti shiva is a

corpse. The trinity, and shiva are shavas or corpses without the imbibing of

shakti. This is also what is indicated by the shloka " shiva shaktyaa yukto ... "

in Saundarya lahari. That is again hinted at in pancha pretaasanaaseenaa.

translating Lalithopakgyana , which is a Bagavatgita for Srividya. Iam expecting

some of your great knowledge is put in this book by also including ur practical

experiences correlating with Laltha Sahasranama.

I have need a clarification for  " Pancha Prethasana " . The meaning of this is

told as Devi is seated on Brahma , Vishnu, Rudra and Maheswara as legs and sadha

siva as seat. But why they are called as Pretha ??

Kindly clarify if possible.

Slowly is good, like savoring the words. Perhaps more people are

interested in reading than in writing to tell you they are interested!

 

But the translations are not just for others, right? It is also to

consider the meaning of the words in a new way, by being challenged by

a different language. A gift back to Devi in one's focus.

Actually it is a very selfish project. By doing this, I am able to study the

subject better *smile*. This is what is called swaadhyaaya in sanskrit also

leading to manana or mulling over. If I can finish 5 shlokas a day I think it is

a big achievement

 

That it is shared is just a side effect. When one has to write a commentary in

another language, one has to study it, cross reference it and all. It is hard.

But then no study is easy.

I would like to say that I am VERY INTERESTED in seeing the commentary.

All perspectives on sacred texts are worthy as they can springboard new ways of

appreciating our common understanding. It is a wonderful gift to this (and any

other) community. I'd love to read the whole thing " yesterday " .

But, savoring IS good.

Please try to increase the font size a little big.

Please check for some of the spelling mistakes.

Could you please provide annexture for the see ref., web ref. is an

exception.

No problem how much it become slow but an elaborate explanation of some

" words " which are impregnant with gooda, nigooda, rahasya arthams is

expected.

34-40 should have been explained as it comes out from, so that it can be

said concluded as complete.

Please do not consider how many are not interested. The interested souls

would carry it on. :-)
