Guest guest
Dear Shakti Sadhana Member, Each day poor children around the world are abandoned at birth, barely fed by their parents, forbidden to go to school, targeted for sexual violence and exploitation. Why are these children singled out? Because they are girls. When I watched this video [link below], I was shocked to see the overwhelming discrimination against girls in the developing world: URL: http://www.planusa.org/becauseiamagirl/video/becauseiamagirl.wmv TINY URL: http://tinyurl.com/b42ntd But with your help, the United States can take bold steps toward bringing hope and empowerment to young girls. Please take a moment to watch this powerful video, and then ask President Obama to help girls in the developing world today: URL: http://www.planusa.org/becauseiamagirl/takeaction.php?tp=VE1HUj0xLHRpZD04MjkwMzg\ s TINY URL: http://tinyurl.com/aprk8o There are three specific, realistic steps that President Obama can take today: * Require birth registration, which will protect girls from early marriage and child labor, and enable them to vote and get jobs; * Ensure that girls benefit as much as boys from aid money given to developing countries; and * Help create a procedure that would enable girls and boys to voice complaints against their governments. Protecting the rights of girls promotes the health and economic growth of their communities and nations. Plan USA works to open doors for girls in developing countries — but we can't do it alone. We need world leaders to take notice and take action. We need concerned and compassionate activists like you to push President Obama to end discrimination against girls. Watch our video and ask President Obama to stand up for the rights of girls! Then spread the word to friends and family. Make sure they understand the urgency of this crisis and ask them to take action too. Thank you for being an important part of Plan USA's mission, every day. For the children, W. Ahuma Adodoadji President/CEO Plan USA
Guest guest
Hey DB, This is awesome, I signed and I sent. However I never could get the whole video to play. I wish they would also post a copy on YouTube.com. I prefer to send that then a wmv file as not everyone can play them. Nonetheless, the point is that we can share some hope with others.
