Guest guest
I am new to the group, and was delighted to find a simple form of pooja in your files. I am having difficulty, however, finding an exact translation of the Sanskrit. Would someone kindly explain the literal meaning of these compounds? apaathmanaa prithivyaathmanaa aakaashaathmanaa vaaywaathmanaa vahnyaathmanaa amritaatmanaa With thanks and best wishes, royedwards31
Guest guest
Panchopara puja gives a good description of the usage of the terms. It is a manasa puja meaning puja performed by imagining it in the mind and making it come to life. aatmanaa = by the purified mind Each word is split as follows: apaah + aathmanaa = water + by the purified mind prithvi + aathmanaa = earth + ..... aakaas(am) + aathmanaa = sky +..... vaayu + aathmanaa = air + ..... vahni (or agni) + aathmanaa = fire + ..... amrith (amruth) + aathmanaa = ambrosia + ..... Thus each element is offered by the purified mind. Hope this helps. G , " royedwards31 " <s.beall wrote: > > I am new to the group, and was delighted to find a simple form of pooja in your files.
