deva prathista prayoga is an elaborate ritual, of which I am not aware of the

details. However this agamic ritual is meant for installing 'life' in the

murti's in a temple and not meant for personal shrines. (though I think it can

be done, particularly those who have an elaborate home shrine)

For personal worship, one generally requests for the deity to come and settle in

the murti during the period when worship is done. This prana-prathista which is

done each time during puja is simple, consisting of simple hand-gestures and

some mantras and meditation. However I would request you to get these from a

tantric puja manual of your region which would be according to the tantras

applicable to your region.

It is best to worship the gods in a shiva vana linga or a shaligram shila, since

there is no prathista required in a linga or shila.
