Guest guest
Namaskaram; I am just starting out and have printed the khadmagala stotram. The only sound files I could find for it were at the Devipuram site, is there something new? or slower? I'd be happy to buy it. Also I'd love to purchase a photo or statue of Sri Rajajeshwari Devi to worship, if anyone would be kind to make suggestions of shops etc.If it makes a difference I live in the U.S. I have a Buddhist background and am familiar with Buddhist tantric texts and am reading 'The Three Cities " by Douglas Renfrew Brooks, 'Oh Terrifying Mother' 'Offering Flowers;Feeding Skulls'. any advice that devotees of Devi could give, just starting out would be greatly appreciated. thank you for this wonderful list! Guest guest
Welcome to the e-group, Rory. To make a slower version of the Devipuram MP3, you can load it into Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (free!) and change the tempo by -20%. That should help, but you will also discover that the original mp3 is not the clearest of recordings. Amma Sri Karunamayi has a 'learning' CD for the Khadgamala Stotram: http://www.karunamayi.org/AmmaStore/product.php?productid=16181 & cat=266 & page=1 or http://tinyurl.com/r2xgov It's a different recension, I believe, so you'll want her booklet (which, as I recall is still not a perfect match to the version on her CD.) In any case, she has a sweet voice and the recording quality is very good; you'll probably enjoy the CD. , " Maior " <rory12001 wrote: > > I am just starting out and have printed the khadmagala stotram. Guest guest
Someone posted a nice Sri Devi Khadgamala on YouTube: The artist isn't ID'd, does anyone know who this is? The explanation is lifted from (and credited to, which is nice) the Shakti Sadhana version we did a couple of years back. The recording doesn't cover the entire SDKM, just the deity list. But it's a nice presentation. aim mAtangyai namaH , " Maior " <rory12001 wrote: > > Namaskaram; > I am just starting out and have printed the khadmagala stotram. Guest guest
Just an update: the singer is Nitya Santhoshini. Here is a free mp3 file in case anyone is interested: http://download305.mediafire.com/a7uxyhhyfslg/mz4iwyzmyhn/Sri+Devi+Khadgamala+Fe\ male+Voice.mp3 The person who posted says it's a " Telugu version " of the SDKM stothram, but in fact it is the standard Sanskrit -- once again, it's not the whole hymn, just the deity names. Enjoy! aim mAtangyai namaH , Max Dashu <maxdashu wrote: > > Thanks for this!!! > > and blessed new moon to all.. > > Max > > >Someone posted a nice Sri Devi Khadgamala on YouTube: > > > >< 72JSLac > > > >The artist isn't ID'd, does anyone know who this is? Guest guest
Dear Devi Bakta and MsBaju; the youtube video was very helpful, I used it last night after chanting the Sanskrit on my own, splitting the syllables visually made it easier to pronounce. And I have Audacity so that is very useful too. I just may buy the CD as well. you've been very helpful and I appreciate the welcome:) Rory > > Dear Devi Baktha, Thank you very much for this download. Guest guest
Thanks so much, I checked over at Amazon and they had it as well, I've ordered both the CD and book. It's interesting usually with these recordings women's voices seem clearer.
