Guest guest
What really upsets me is when spiritualism is being treated like those cheap drugs you can buy over the counter.......perhaps this is what it has become......... , Priya Babu <sripriyasivanathbabu wrote: > > Om Sri Matre Namah, > I am aspiring to get initiated into the Srividya tradition. Guest guest
I'm not at all familiar with the NRI community in Houston, so I can't directly address your query. But may I recommend a good book? The Goddess Lives in Upstate New York: Breaking Convention and Making Home at a North American Hindu Temple by Corinne G. Dempsey Paperback: 288 pages Publisher: Oxford University Press, USA (December 15, 2005) Language: English ISBN-10: 019518730X ISBN-13: 978-0195187304 It's a very engaging portrait of a SriVidya temple (in the U.S.) and the guru who founded it. Check out the description and reviews on http://www.amazon.com/ Pertinent to your query is the rather long period of time between when the author started studying with the guru and when she received initiation. , Priya Babu <sripriyasivanathbabu wrote: > > Om Sri Matre Namah, > I am aspiring to get initiated into the Srividya tradition. Guest guest
Dear Priyaji, I look at your post and wonder what you are aiming at? You say you will be available???? Could you please highlight on your spiritual journey before you ask for being intiated? In the age of " instant " everthing, do you yourself feel Sri Vidya is such a thing? Its this type of self appointed guru using such tactic to convince the young aspirant into path they are not meant to be. How many have we heard people getting themselves trap in spiritual cult group.....leaving with such bitter experience. A true guru will be careful when they encounter young aspirant. They do not ever willing give themselve so easily. Its only the fake ones with the mentality of the " get rich scheme " seeing their opportunity to make " a quickie " will try every best to get hold of the young aspirant with their display of so call supreme knowledge to impress. We have several gurus here, I know who they are........and like a true guru they do not immediately come forward and offer themselves.......they watch, they observe and they assess...if they know this young aspirant is ready, they will personally contact them.
