The six seasons advent in a rhythmic and cyclical way and each of them creates a particular essence as well as matter. Similarly, an acharya (spiritual mentor) instills within his disciples various qualities. The first among the seasons to arrive is the spring season. This season fills the flowers and fruits of this world with their very essence by which they are created and blossom. Similarly, an acharya lights up the life of his disciples. I,e. the concepts of water and fire elements are balanced by the acharya within the disciple and hence peace and energy are filled in the disciple. The disciple says, Hey acharya who is equivalent to the father, " we bow before this quality of yours " . After the season of spring is the advent of summer season. The speciality of summer season is its capacity to dry up. This quality provides comfort to everyone. In Sanskrit, the force which can dry up or destroy enemies is called as " Sushma " . Similarly, the acharya also instills within his disciples the force which can weaken and annihilate the negative qualities viz. lust, anger, greed, jealousy etc. Hence, the disciple says so to the acharya. Hey acharya, who is equivalent to the father, " We bow to you in order to obtain your quality of weakening and annihilating one’s enemies. The next season in the line is that of rains. All that had dried up and withered in the previous summer season get a new lease of life. Similarly, to the acharya who breathes the essence of life into his disciples, we offer our salutations. Following the season of rains is the season of autumn or late monsoon which richly provides the grains on earth. ‘Annam’ or food grains are also called as ‘Swadha’. The saying " Swadha vai Sharad’ conveys the meaning that Sharad season is swadha which means Annam or food grains. Following the consumption of this ‘swadha’, one is able to gain energy. An acharya also provides his disciples with the amount of energy which he or she is capable of assuming. Hence, the disciple says that we salute the capacity of the guru to assume the adequate mental capacity at will. The onset of pre winter follows the season of autumn. It is widely told by many that the prewinter is horrible. An acharya also prepares his disciples to be horrible towards his enemies. Hence, the disciple says that we salute the acharya who is akin to the father and one who has the capacity to become most horrible to his enemies and create fear within his enemies. Finally, the season of dewy winter sets in. The cold setting in slowly and the lack of warmth in the atmosphere makes this time of the season ideal for gaining knowledge. An acharya too provides his disciples with the most appropriate climate and environment for gathering knowledge. To this the disciple says, " Hey acharya, we sit beside you in full humility in the hope of gaining knowledge from you. We bow down to you. We once again prostrate in front of you. Hey acharya equivalent to our father, kindly provide us with home. In the ancient times, an acharya used to develop his disciples with all required positive qualities and duties to be performed as well as requisite knowledge required before making him ready for the life of a house holder and face the world. Into this environment did a father and mother welcome their offsprings. We welcome this action of the acharya. It is our duty in reciprocation to provide for all your needs. May it be possible for us to provide all the material requirements for the ever knowledgeable acharya even in the event of his passing away. The very place which we inhabit, the home and all the clothes that we wear are all yours. It is you who have made us capable of earning the same. It is you who have made us smart enough to earn these material comforts. The essence of the mantra An acharya is one who instills in his disciples the qualities viz. the elixir of life, the power to destroy enemies, solving the riddle of life, the ability to realize one’s inborn potential, create fear in one’s enemies and profound wisdom. Once these qualities have been distilled into the disciple, the acharya also makes arrangement for a proper and apt life partner for the disciple. Following this, the disciple should in all humility, as his capacity allows, always provide for the acharya as form of guru dakshina for the entire lifetime. Because, one enjoys the the very house, riches, fame etc. in the first place due to the guru’s grace. Love Cricket? Check out live scores, photos, video highlights and more.
