Namaste.

I've been mentally chanting the Mahamritunjaya mantra while undergoing kidney

dialysis at a clinic three times a week. It does at least distract me from all

the needles that the bloodwork entails. I was reclining in a half-hypnotic

state, watching the two tubes that draw veinous and arterial blood into the

machine, where it is filtered before being recycled back into my system.

Something about the position seemed vaguely familiar...

Then I realized I was emulating much of the 'leela' of Ma Chinnamastika, the

beheaded Mahavidya who 'recycles' her blood in three spurts, two to her dakini

companions, and a third returning blood to her own severed head. The devas

sometimes reveal themselves where we never thought we'd find them. There rally

should be a large lotus-seat under the dialysis chair, perhaps with images of

Kamadeva and Rati joined in maithuna! Jai jai Ma.

Karunamayi http://www.karunamayi.org says this mantra should be chanted verbally

(orally) not silently. At times when i could not chant it loudly due to

situations or circumstances i happened to be in, i chanted it softly but not

silently. It worked.

Namaste:

What a powerful experience your undergoing. Noticing the connection to the

Mahavidya Chinnamasta is rather profound. Have you tried one of her

Mantras? I do not know any (nor am I in any position to be giving them out)

but it may be worth trying. Not that Lord Shiva's mantra isn't also apt,

but ..
