Guest guest
I've recently started to recite the mantra " om aim srim hrim saraswati deviyai namaha' 108 times. I've noticed, however, that in the beginning of my chanting, and sometimes toward the middle, I get very light-headed. But this goes away toward the end. I only feel this way when I'm chanting this particular mantra 108 times, never any time else. Any ideas on what could be happening?
Guest guest
Greetings, It is nice to know that you are doing japa. I hope that this mantra which you have mentioned has been given to you either by a senior sadhaka or by your Guru, in which case the matter should be discussed with him/her and not in an open forum. Each indivduals experience with mantra japa is different and can be gauged only by his /her Guru. If your Guru is not accessible for any reason, you could consult a senior sadhaka having the same status as your Guru. Guest guest
No- I've just always been a great devotee of Ma Saraswati- but I didn't know this mantra existed until I heard Amma Karunamai speak about it and recommend saying it 108 times. , rohit kumtha <rohitkumtha wrote: > > Greetings, > > It is nice to know that you are doing japa. Guest guest
Since you are doing this japa at the behest of Sri Karunamayi, it seems to me that you could 1. pray to Her for guidance 2. contact someone in her organization, and ask your question. BTW, this sort of question comes up all the time in the e-group. Off the top of my head, the most common answers are, in no particular order: 1. It's an illusion/distraction; forge ahead 2. Listen to your intuition; if it seems you should take a break, take a break. 3. Try simple shlokas, a stotram, or a maha mantra instead 4. Ask your guru 5. Get-a-guru The followup to #5 is " when the student is ready, the guru will appear. " Best wishes. , " sd " <salharmonica wrote: > > No- I've just always been a great devotee of Ma Saraswati- but I didn't know this mantra existed until I heard Amma Karunamai speak about it and recommend saying it 108 times. >
Guest guest
Those are some good reasons- I actually did this today- said it 27 times instead of 108 times, eyes open instead of closed, and I was fine. I admit I'm kind of a spacey, not-very-grounded person (one of the reasons I want to do this mantra), so maybe it was just too powerful for me to do right away so many times. I'll work my way up to 108. , " msbauju " <msbauju wrote: > > Since you are doing this japa at the behest of Sri Karunamayi, > it seems to me that you could > > 1. pray to Her for guidance > 2. contact someone in her organization, and ask your question. > > BTW, this sort of question comes up all the time in the e-group. > Off the top of my head, the most common answers are, > in no particular order: > > 1. Guest guest
Greetings, The problem here is that many of these new age, self styled Gurus give out such information in public and people tend to get influenced and carried away. Never ever go by their public recommendations where mantra japa is concerned. No Sadguru will ever recommend mantras publicly. What needs to be realised is that mantra diksha is a very private matter between the Guru and his disciple and whatever transpires is just between them only. When the diksha is given, the Guru's grace is imparted to the disciple and the Guru becomes responsible for the disciple. The responsibility of the disciple is to ensure that he carries out the instructions of his Guru in toto. Mantra japa and experiences thereof, is a very private matter and is never , never discussed openly. In your case, since you adore Saraswati Devi and are keen on worshipping Her, please start off by doing simple pujas and reciting Her stotras, praying for guidance. Mother will respond by leading you to a Sad guru. Depending upon the intensity of your prayers and past good deeds, this can happen very quickly also. Mantras should be recieved from a Sadguru hailing a Sadparampara ( tradition or linage of Acharyas). The diksha received from such a Guru carries with it, the collective Gurushakti of all the Gurus of that linage and immensly benefits the disciple. Just ignore all the others. They will lead you nowhere.
