Guest guest
I found a silver pendant sold in the Krishna Culture website, in the shape of Krishna's footprints, with all sorts of markings on the soles -- conchshells, lotuses, tulsi plants, etc. They also have a book illustrating the feet and hands of other divine personages, such as Radharani, Chaitanya, and Nityananda. Where did the notion of " markings " on the soles and palms of such personages come from? Is it exclusive to Vaishnava tradition? (I seem to recall rumors of marks on the Buddha's lotus feet -- but not on, say, the blue-black feet of Ma Kali.) Are such markings only found on mortal feet? Are there markings found on Parvati's feet, or Hanuman's, or various legendary Saints? How do such markings relate to the divinitory practices of palm-reading and sole-readng? -- Len/ Kalipadma
