Guest guest
I'm hardly the expert, but here's something I googled up: [begin quote] Astrology is one of the most important and widely used Vedic sciences. It is largely derived from one of the six Vedangas (see below) and is intimately related to the notions of reincarnation and karma. There are [....] two important bodies of supplementary [to the Vedas] literature, related closely to the Vedas themselves. They are: 1. The Vedangas, (the limbs of the Vedas) which expound the sciences required to understand and apply the Vedas. 2. The Upavedas (usually considered smriti) which deal with the four traditional arts and sciences. The Six Vedangas (limbs of the Vedas) Kalpa (ritual detail) Siksha (pronunciation) Vyakarana (grammar) Nirukti (etymology) Chandas (metre) Here -> Jyotisha (astronomy/astrology) From http://hinduism.iskcon.com/lifestyle/811.htm So there's the connection, textually, anyway. > [salma wrote:] > > 1) Is astrology a part of Hinduism? Any recommendations? Hmmm. Re: finding a good astrologer; I have no idea. Maybe look for someone who doesn't charge for it.
Guest guest
Thanks again- very useful. The no-charge idea seems good- no personal gain to cloud the vision. I guess I'll have to find 'hobby' astrologers. , " msbauju " <msbauju wrote: > > [...] > > 1. Guest guest
Jason Thanks for this- have you tried it yourself by the way? Like I said, my concerns are primarily the fact that most astrologers I've been to don't focus on psychology and tend to be very conservative when it comes to women- I noticed that the panel on this site are all older Indian men- I don't want to generalize, but I want to make sure I wouldn't get yet another horror-story reading. Guest guest
Salma People say this girl is very good... and being a girl maybe you wont get those problems http://komilla.com/pages/credentials.html <http://komilla.com/pages/credentials.html>Namaskar! > I noticed that the panel on this site are all older Indian men- I don't want > to generalize, but I want to make sure I wouldn't get yet another > horror-story reading. > > Salma > > > <%40>, > Jason Frost <frostdancer2000 wrote: > > > > http://www.astrojyoti.com/aboutastrojyoti.htm > > > > Excellent site (Vedic astrology=Jyotish) > >
Guest guest
Rafael- Thanks so much! It's pricey, but if she's that good, it would definitely be worth it. Incidentally, has anyone ever had their charts done by Liz Greene? I find her much preferable to the crazy forecasts given by traditional Indian astrologers, but a little too dense and abstract. , Rafael Espadine <espadine wrote: > > Salma > > People say this girl is very good... and being a girl maybe you wont get > those problems > > http://komilla.com/pages/credentials.html > > <http://komilla.com/pages/credentials.html>Namaskar! >
Guest guest
I have gone through the site extensively. There is an article about kuja dosha that impressed me that there was more to the site than just uploaded files. ________________________________ sd <salharmonica Thanks for this- have you tried it yourself by the way? , Jason Frost <frostdancer2000@ ...> wrote: > > http://www.astrojyoti.com/aboutastrojyoti.htm > > Excellent site (Vedic astrology=Jyotish)
Guest guest
Salma, Traditional western astrologers I know (as they study its roots and development on the dark ages and renaissance - before the whole new psychological astrology) assured me Liz Greene is not using all the correct ephemerids and stuff for her work, so although I like many of her insights we should be careful about that. Just a comment about another discussion: I think astrologies had the same source: observation of skies. (ancient civilizations of the american continent also had astrology without any greeks, egyptians or babylonians Hugs On Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 7:27 PM, sd <salharmonica wrote: > > > Rafael- > > Thanks so much! Guest guest
Rafael- Oh no! I've bought five of her readings! It's funny, I actually gave her the wrong time the first time I did it- an hour earlier than I was born, which put me at an Aries Ascendant. Then I explained the mistake, and she gave me new readings free with the adjusted time, which put me at a Taurus Ascendant. That was pretty nice of her group. It's strange, her insights are so dense that it takes me, like I said, several readings before I can truly grasp what she's saying at a deep level. That said, I've found some of the insights on the Taurus horoscops (my real ascendant) right on target- but there are things on there that I disagree with. E.g, the reading said I have no spiritual inclination or interest in such matters. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And I found some of the stuff in the wrong horoscope (Aries) to be right on target. So...I don't know what to think. Considering the money I've already spent on astrologers, I might as well go to Sutton, like you said. BTW- These western astrologers that you know who say Liz Greene is wrong- are any of them ones you recommend? With websites? THanks!
