Guest guest
Does any one know when and how did Sin (paap) appear in this world according to the Hinduism. My knowledge of Hindu is limited and I have not read Purans, for those who have read could you please tell me when Paap (sin) was born to this world. I am sure there is a story to tell in Purans. Thanks!

Guest guest
In the first level of manifestation the operator Maya or Ignorance acts. Then the phenomena of time functions and all this creation goes endlessly and eternally in various cycles and levels of evolution. Pap is a much grosser subject, which is a violation of the dharma or creative principle prevalent at a place and time, resulting in a series of suffering to the doer. Guest guest
when one lives truthfully and honestly, there is no paap, no punya. he just lives complete and does his duty well. Once in that mode, neither paap matters, not punya. , " kemchi_samurai " <kemchi_samurai wrote: > > Does any one know when and how did Sin (paap) appear in this world > according to the Hinduism. Guest guest
Namaste: I'm not a theologian, but we Hindu's don't really place that much basis on original sin, evil and the like. Maya, or Mahamaya, is the great World Illusion that sustains us all. I would say that paapa would be a function of avidya - ignorance or nescience - and how we interact with the laws of Karma. Depending on one's viewpoint of the supreme being, it could be Brahma/Vishnu/Shiva/Devi who set up that system at the dawn of creation. But as Jun says, the cycle has been continuing for quite some time, and will continue ad infinitum. It's certainly an interesting thing to think about. Mythologically, it reminds me of the story of Brahma and Ushas, and the creation of Rudra, which occurred right after the world was created. Then again, in Devi Mahatmya, there is the famous story of how before creation, when Vishnu was asleep, Brahma was threatened by the asuras Madhu and Kaitabha, and had to appeal to the Devi as Yoganidra to allow Vishnu to awaken. So even before this universe began, there was trouble brewing in it! On a purely personal note, I view the problem of sin/error/evil as part of the Ineffable Play of creation. -S.
