Durga-madhyana-bhasini, Durga-moha, Durga-maga, Durgam-artha-

swarupini, Durgam-asura-samhantri, Durga-ma-yuddha dharini, Durga-

moghni, Durgamata, Durgamya, Durgameshvari, Durgabhima, Durgabhama,

Durgabha, Durgadarini.

 

Namavalim-imam yastu durgaya nama manavah

Pathet sarva-bhayan-muvato bhavisyati na samshayah.

OM twameva sakshat sri Samharini Rudrarupa sakshat

Sri Nirmala Devi namo namah.

 

Translation

When this string of names of Durga is recited, all anxieties, fears

and alarms are dispelled among mankind now, in the future, and

forever.

 

Durga the fortress, the impassable one

Durga the soother of pain and trouble

Durga whose foot stands firmly apon all foes

Durga my protector who destroys by cutting the enemies to pieces

Durga the vanquisher, achiever of goals

Durga the one who destroys: the undoer

Durga who elevates

Durga who annihilates

Durga who drives all fear from me

Durga who extinguishes the demons of the world

Durga my refuge

Durga the stronghold of all people

Durga the self-created, self-sufficient fortress

Durga giver of the road to self-realisation

Durga refuge from avidya

Durga who provides my sustainance

Durga who protects from ignorance

Durga the one who illuminates from within

Durga the great delusion, creator of confusion

Durga the mountain-fortress

Durga the greatest refuge, self-formed by her own nature

Durga asura-destroyer

Durga who saves me in battle

Durga who kills in an instant

Durga dispeller of darkness

Durga-mother, O Fortress of fortresses

Durga my sovereign

Durga the terrible

Durga the wrathful

Durga resplendant and luminous

Durga the destroyer.
