Guest guest
Jai Sri Mataji Dear Jagbhir and All, Looking at an old video where Sri Mataji was encouraging the English to overcome the conditioning which makes them speak in a reticent and understated way about Her and about Sahaja Yoga it struck me that it is a cultural hang up....Something to do with not wanting to attract too much attention or sound boastful. It is easier to express the joy of discovery and the reality of one's convictions in print than in a large hall full of people. One of the most inhibiting factors for a lot of yogis (particularly men) is being aware of other critical yogis in the audience. Even the ones they regard as friends, often exhude, negative thoughts which diminish the speaker's confidence in asserting the truth. It might help if the yogis doing programmes have a sort of warm up with others first where everyone is expressing a wish to really announce Sri Mataji's Advent. Another inhibiting factor in the West is that Christian conditioning doesn't allow expectations of an actual Incarnation of the Holy Spirit in human form. Even though Lord Jesus is recorded as having promised to send the Holy Spirit, most Christians think it is a metaphor for a state of grace, not an actual person, because they do not believe in reincarnation, thinking we only live once, and believing that Jesus was the ONLY incarnation of divinity. I have just made three attempts to communicate my experience to a Christian discussion group online and partly because their server limits the size of the letters, but really because I think the Paramchaitanya was trying to improve my expression, it is so long since I tried to communicate with church goers. But I remember myself not realising, although I was seeking the Kundalini Awakening, while also believing the Great Goddess was actually on Earth, and although I KNEW this was Self-realisation, still, it was the second night of the programme when Sri Mataji reprimanded an impertinant fellow (who left) that I was overcome with awe to realise that was not only the Great Mother Goddess but ACTUALLY the Holy Spirit. In person. Actually here before my very eyes!! ( " Tvam eva sakshat " ) For a Christian that is an astounding concept. For most westerners who are probably at least one generation removed from church going or bible reading even the concept of God or Spirit or actual Son of God is so far away from their imagination. This unawareness, this unpreparedness has to be introduced to their minds first it seems. This is the stony ground which Lord Jesus spoke about. How refreshing it is to read in the newsletter about the people in Africa receiving their awakening with such joyful awareness. In our Australian society even the media is now publishing stories about how hard-hearted we have become, no longer even socially responsible but selfish and uncaring about the growing numbers of poor. Finding a way to reach people's hearts is a major concern. Some cities and some countries have very different conditions attitudes to seeking. we still need to work out those differences. with love from Aunty Lyndal
