Guest guest
Jai Sri Mataji Dear Yogis Dr. Balwinder made an interesting point that in the past 20 years the yogis there have not been announcing and still they have a large and growing collective. I have heard several reports from other people about the style of programmes they use and the very thorough emphasis on feeling vibrations. This is something which is often overlooked in Australia -making sure that new people really are getting their vibrations flowing. I would really appreciate hearing from Dr. Balwinder about the particular obstacles they encounter in telling about Sahaja Yoga, I'm sure a predominantly Muslim culture must be one, and how they have worked it out. Similarly, if people from other countries with different conditions would like to share their problems and solutions, we could all benefit. Even if the conditions in our own country are quite different it is enjoyable to hear about the activities of our brothers and sisters in other parts of the World. love from Aunty Lyndal
Guest guest
Dear Auntie Lyndal and to all SY brothers and sisters please refer to me as Balwinder(minus the dr.) I hope Auntie Lyndal that the info below about Malaysia is helpful. We do not announce who Shree Mataji is to the newcomers in the beginners classes but just mentioned in the 2nd or 3rd class that she is the guru and her photo with a candle in front is displayed where the classes are conducted. Emphasis is on vibrations and the benefits of meditation which are physical , mental , emotional , spiritual well being are expounded. The emphasis is to get the newcomers' kundalini risen and vibrations felt.Shree Mataji's shorter videotapes are used during the classes and meditation is done for 5-10 minutes. I am happy to say that the Malays in Malaysia are the most tolerant Muslims I know and the present government we have (ruling since Independence) is very tolerant when it comes to other religions. The only flaw is that there is a law against Muslims converting to another religion but not vice-versa. I have no hang up about that because I believe Islam is one of the best religions in the world and thus see no reason for any Muslim to convert. The way it is practiced by some in many parts of the world leaves much to be desired and due to these people the religion is nowadays very much misinterpreted. SY is not a religion and thus there is no question of conversion for any person practising any faith ....... Jesus Christ , Lord Buddha , Prophet Muhammad and all the saints never came to earth to start a religion but to give the right direction to human being in order to ascent to a higher level. The approach to introduce Sahaja Yoga to Malaysians is done via various methods a)via media which may be TV or newspaper b)house to house " leafleting " which is basically identifying a locality where we want to start a new class and then going around all the houses in the neighborhood and dropping leaflets in their mailboxes which briefly describes what SY is and when and where will the free classes be conducted and some telehone numbers for them to get further information c)identifying organizations(clubs, schools, societies) which would like to know more about SY METHOD: There are about 6-7 centers in central part of Malaysia surrounding the capital where classes are conducted on a weekly (once a week) basis for newcomers. The classes are usually run by 2 " facilitators " who will guide the newcomers thru 8-10 weekly classes where they will be given self-realization and introduced to the basics of SY. There are about 8 centers in Malaysia throughout where established SY meditate on a weekly basis (this number excludes the centers for newcomers). The bigger collectives occasional go for out-station trips to towns with small collectives to help them conduct a SY introduction and realization programme There is a plan to have a buddy system which basically means that a newcomer in SY will be introduced to an established SY who will help the newcomer in whichever way possible for establishing his/her self- realization. I have personally yet to see this taking off but one which I believe will really help each and every newcomer who finishes the classes for newcomers to become a deep SY.
