" Gunmen attack Pakistani mosque

 

At least 30 people have been killed in an attack on a mosque in the

south-western Pakistani city of Quetta, officials say.

 

Three unidentified attackers entered the mosque in the capital of

Balochistan province and opened fire on about 2,000 Shia

worshippers. There were also reports of at least one explosion.

 

In addition to the dead, about 50 people were injured, said interior

ministry spokesman Iftikar Ahmed.

 

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said the identity of the

attackers was not known but promised strong action.

 

Several hundred members of the Shia community took to the streets

after the killings, attacking government property, setting fire to

vehicles and blaming Sunni Muslims. "

" Tanzania fights human skinning

 

Exhibits of skin are part of Tanzania's campaign to discourage the

trade in human skin at an international business fair in the

capital.

 

Vistors to the the week-long fair in Dar es Salaam will see a rather

gruesome exhibit of human body parts in an effort to raise awareness

about the underground trade in human skin which has hit southern

Tanzania over the past two years.

 

The head of the forensic science division in the chief chemist's

office, which is exhibiting the parts, Gloria Machube, told the

BBC's Focus on Africa programme that the human skin is used in

witchcraft.

 

According to police the skins are in huge demand outside Tanzania. "
