Voter touched by caring letter from Pak Lah BY BEH YUEN HUI

IPOH: When programme assistant Angilin Philomina Charles got home from work on Wednesday, she was shocked to find a letter with the words “Message from Pak Lah” printed on the envelope waiting for her.

The shock turned to joy when she opened the envelope and read its contents – a letter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wishing her a safe journey to her polling area for the elections and during her return trip home.

Angilin, a registered voter in her hometown of Alor Star who has been travelling back to Kedah for general elections since moving here 22 years ago, said she read the letter so many times that she had practically memorised it.

DELIGHTED RECIPIENT: Angilin reading the letter with her son Nelson in Ipoh recently. The letter Angilin received was among 500,000 sent to those not voting in their place of residence.

“I never imagined that I would receive a letter from the Prime Minister. I am so touched by his move and proud that we have a leader who cares for and loves the people.

“I am so happy,” she said, adding that she planned to get the letter framed and show it to everyone she knew.

In the letter addressed to Angilin personally, Abdullah pledged to carry out his duties with integrity, efficiency and fairness.

He also gave his assurance that the Barisan Nasional government would step up its efforts to lead the country to greater heights.

Abdullah said he was aware that a leader would be judged not only by the people but also by God.

The letter Angilin received was among 500,000 sent to those not voting in their place of residence.

In the letter, Abdullah also reminded recipients that voting was a special right which should be exercised wisely.

He added that he valued their votes and would respect the choices they made.

He urged them to come out to vote, saying that every vote represented the voice of a citizen.

“He is so busy and has many important tasks to fulfil but he took the time to write a letter to the people,” said Angilin.

She was also touched that Abdullah did not refer to himself as the Prime Minister but as “Pak Lah.”

“He is so humble. I will support him and Barisan,” said Angilin, who is heading back to Alor Star today.

And he won decisively as this Star newspaper reports:

" Landslide victory for BN

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional has won a massive victory in the

general election and in the process recaptured Terengganu and claimed

victory in Kelantan as well.

The victory is a personal triumph for Prime Minister and Barisan

chairman Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. He now has a clear mandate

from Malaysian voters for his campaign for reforms.

The Barisan sweep in the Malay heartland was so effective that

opposition PAS leader Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang lost his

parliamentary seat in Terengganu.

The PAS election machinery was further torn apart when its list of

casualties included vice-president Datuk Dr Ali Hassan (Parit

Buntar), secretary-general Nasharuddin Mat Isa (Besut), central

committee members Mahfuz Omar (Pokok Sena), Mohamed Sabu (Kuala

Kedah) and Datuk Taib Azamudeen (Baling). "

This overwhelming mandate of the rakyaat (citizens) is particularly

significant for all Malaysians in general, and local SYs in

particular. For me this great victory of Pak Lah on Shri Mataji's

birthday bodes well to advance Her message of the Last Judgment and

Al-Qiyamah in Malaysia. For that we need just a few very dedicated

individuals to lay the professional network, academic groundwork and

scriptural foundation to prepare for the near future of boldly

announcing Shri Mataji's advent and promulgation of Al-Qiyamah to all

humanity. All Shri Mataji needs is just a handful of ganas willing to

sacrifice tun, mun and dhan for Her cause. Those who have fought

valiantly in their past lives to defend the Sanatana Dharma will

again rise to the occasion. May the illusion of the present birth not

cloud the shining glory of past lives righteously lived!

Jai Shri Mataji!
