Palestinian fury on the streets

Tens of thousands of Palestinians are united in grief and anger

Furious crowds of Palestinians have been carrying Sheikh Yassin's remains through the streets of Gaza City.

Some fired semi-automatic rifles in the air, others chanted anti-Israeli slogans and called for revenge.

A sea of mourners followed the funeral procession with Sheikh Yassin's coffin draped in the green flag of Hamas.

Across the West Bank and Gaza, thousands have taken to the streets in a spontaneous outpouring of grief and rage at his death.

There are reports of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli troops near some Jewish settlements and rockets are reported to have been fired at the main crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Hamas says Israel has "opened the gates of hell" by killing Sheikh Yassin.

More killings in Thailand's south

Nu Bindaoh, a Thai police officer, was shot dead in Narathiwat

Three people in Thailand have been killed in separate incidents as unrest continues in the mainly Muslim south of the country.

Officials say the dead were two police officers and a community leader.

Unidentified attackers also set fire to a school in Narathiwat province, one of the worst-affected by the violence.

The government imposed martial law in the area in January and has blamed Islamic militants for violence that has killed about 60 people.

The army said it laid an ambush for the rebels

The Nepalese government has confirmed that over a 130 people were killed in fierce clashes on Sunday between the security forces and Maoist rebels.

Home Minister Kamal Thapa visited the north-western area and afterwards said that the bodies of 100 rebels and 28 soldiers had been recovered.

He said four civilians had been killed in the crossfire.

There are conflicting claims between the army and Maoists as to the exact number of people who died in the clash.

An army spokesman earlier said that an estimated 500 rebels had died in clashes which went on all day at Beni in Myagdi district, 300km (190 miles) from the capital, Kathmandu.

Afghan troops in Herat peace role

Correspondents say the fledgling army faces a big test in Herat

Hundreds of Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been sent to the western city of Herat to try to keep the peace between two rival factions.

Fighting broke out after the death on Sunday of Afghanistan's Minister for Civil Aviation, who was also the son of Herat's governor, Ismail Khan.

Reports say up to 100 people have been killed in the factional skirmishing.

Members of one ANA battalion have arrived in Herat and more troops are due to reach the city on Tuesday.

Forces loyal to the governor in the western city regained control of Herat following the clashes triggered by Mirwais Sadiq's killing.

World stock markets fall sharply

US investors started the week in gloomy mood

Major world stock markets have dropped sharply after Israel's killing of a leading Palestinian militant and amid concern at political tension in Taiwan.

Analysts said investors were also acting on indications that the pace of global economic recovery was slowing.

New York's Dow Jones index lost 1.4% in early trading while Europe's main markets were down 2-3%.

Taiwan had earlier led Asian markets lower amid uncertainty over the island's disputed election result.

"There's no question that there is a broad range of geopolitical concerns, whether it's Israel, Taiwan, Iraq or Spain," said Hugh Johnson, chief investment officer at First Albany Corp.

"The world is clearly a very unsettled and dangerous place, and that's demoralising to investors."

“You have to take a stand in your family, in your surroundings, with your friends, and you have to tell them, "You better all get realized." The reason for that is that the Christ who crucified Himself is going to come back with his Eleven Forces of Destruction. And when He starts He is not going to ask you to take any Realization. No one is going to be bothered whether you are going to hell. He will just sort out. But those who have got Realization will enter into the Kingdom of God. You have to enter into the Kingdom of God here, as I say, in the Seventh Chakra.”

“You are arriving at that point where your destruction is sure because you have to become the spirit. You have to rise in spiritual life and if your movement is downward who can help you? This is a very interesting time as I have told you is the Time of Judgment and at this Time we have to be careful that we are our own judges.”

Shri Hrdhya Shri Nirmala DeviNavaratri Puja, Cabella, Italy — October 5, 1997

“But there will be many who will resist the truth of the new era. They may try at first by playing upon the sense of self-doubt that lies within each of us. Self-doubt exists only because we have allowed others to define our reality for so long that we no longer know what is real anymore. When we look inside and catch the first sight of what is real and it does not concur with what those around us have said and are saying at the moment, we discard it. We doubt ourselves because we have allowed others to tell us what truth is. But as we reach deeper into the New Age, we will reach deeper inside ourselves for the truth. And as we learn the truth, we will no longer need or want others to interpret it for us. This will cause friction with those

who defend the institutions they feel comfortable with, the institutions they cling to like a security blanket in a world they really aren’t comfortable with at all. Those who cannot, or do not dare, to look inside themselves for the truth will be the ones who will resist the rest of us the most. They will be the ones who challenge the rest of us the most. They will be the ones who try to make the rest of us think that we are wrong because they want desperately to believe that they are right, and they know that once their faith is shaken, they have nothing left to cling to. But be wary of anyone who demands that you have blind faith in what they are saying. If they will not allow scrutiny, it is possibly because their beliefs cannot stand up to scrutiny. And when those who hide within the institutions because they do not dare to look inside themselves feel that they are losing their grip on the rest of us, they will fight.”

Walter Mercado, Beyond The Horizon, A Time Warner Company, 1997, p. 251.

“Gautama, the Buddha, taught that the Wheel of Dharma — the teaching of truth, is like a great wheel which, 2,500 years from its first revolution, runs out of momentum. The next world teacher, who is given the name “Maitreya” meaning “friend,” would appear around the year A.D. 2000 and will restore momentum and power to all those seeking after religious truth.

Nostradamus corresponds to this prophecy with the Quatrain 24 Century 4. This quatrain predicts that organized religions will be destroyed by words of truth spoken by the “friend” through the “human flame” of a new religion. ”

John Hogue, Nostradamus: The New Revelations, Element Books, Inc., 1994, p. 243.
