Guest guest
From Vernon Howard: Q: Life piles on the difficulties of frustrated plans, ill health, domestic quarrels. I never know which way to turn. A: Whatever the difficulty there is only one way to turn. Turn to study. Study your mind, study surrounding life, study human nature, study cosmic ideas. This is turning toward the Supreme Source of Solutions. This is rejected by the self-deceived who trust in social solutions. But it is perfect guidance and great relief to those who have caught a glimpse of something higher than themselves. Q: Why does truth attract us? A: Whether presently realized or not, there is something in you which is not of your usual nature. It is this unique nature which responds with interest to various truths in this class, which makes you feel something entirely different. You are like a botanist seeking a healthful herb in the forest. Catching your first faint fragrance of the herb, you know you are heading toward it. Expanding the Flow of Higher Emotions Q & A with Tom Russell Q: We occasionally feel the touch of a higher world. How do we increase this new feeling of delight and happiness? TOM: This feeling is not manufactured by the mind. It is a spiritual power that inhabits open spaces. Let's also understand that our work is to clear the ground. Authentic spiritual teachings highlight bright and cheerful principles on one hand, and expose darkness and hidden agendas on the other. This alternation is what purifies us, thus increasing these higher feelings. There are only two natures: The human nature and the spiritual nature. Here is a key point: We must alternately study both natures. We can't just study one. The first thing the spiritual does is reveal the human. If we focus only on the human nature, there's cynicism. If we study only the spiritual, the ego expands in self-righteousness and self- deceit. We must study both. This is a cosmic law. Q Many people gravitate to the inspiring, and label the other side of the equation as " negative. " TOM: I too felt this way when I was first introduced me to Vernon Howard. I liked the uplifting information, but felt quite uncomfortable with the blunt and challenging facts. Now I understand how essential both are for a successful spiritual journey. Books, teachings and groups seeking financial gain as a primary focus will never do this, for they know there will be fewer participants. However, honesty is the very thing that INCREASES these higher feelings. We must dare to face what we hesitate to face. .......danny
