(This person whose identity i will not reveal responds and asks

further questions of a Pentecostal nature...)

Question:

" G'day and JSM Violet

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks much for the replies. I now understand better the purpose of

Puja but yes there is still that conditioned mind that needs a

little " deconditioning "

One question I have is on the speaking of tongues..just curious as

to the source of the tongues..is it of the holy spirit or a symptom

of possession??

Why must people faint or fall down after being touched by one of the

pastors/priests?

Thanks.

Answer...

i understand that puja is a very different form of worship to what

christian people are used to. It is possible that over time there

may be a bit more give and take in the form of the puja to make it

more easily acceptable to christians and muslims and others. Or it

could go the opposite way, whereby all religions meld into a more

universal culture where the puja becomes universally acceptable and

understood for what it really is and means. Only time will tell.

About the speaking in tongues...

The source of the speaking in tongues on the Day of Pentecost when

the Disciples of Jesus spoke in different languages or 'tongues' so

all surrounding peoples could understand the message from these

realized enlightened disciples of Christ was a gift of the Holy

Spirit to spread the Message of the Resurrection far and wide.

The Pentecostal 'speaking in tongues' is called glossolalia. 'Gloss

(o) - is a Greek word element meaning 'tongue'... and 'lalia' refers

to 'speech or babble'. The dictionary definition of the word

glossolalia is 'gibberish that simulates coherent speech'.

i have seen it happen as a result of a pentecostal minister putting

his hand on a person's head and an energy goes into the head which

is supposed to be the spirit of God. One has to ask, does the spirit

of God make one talk incoherently or talk gibberish.

i have not seen one person who received their self-realization or

Baptism of the Holy Spirit and felt the Cool Breeze of the Holy

Ghost in Sahaja Yoga, subsequently talk in different tongues. In

fact, to have done so, would have been a shock to anyone to see

that. In SY, yes, they would probably think some sort of spirit got

into them but definitely not the Holy Spirit.

When a person is fainting and falling this is not natural, so why

should we think it any different if it takes place in a building

callled a 'church'. Did Jesus ever make a person faint and fall

down? Not in my recollection. And yet if anybody had the power to

save and heal, Jesus did and i have never read of any stories in the

Bible where Jesus's touch made anyone faint or speak gibberish.

Fainting and falling down is something that happens to someone who

has an epileptic fit or who has Turets Syndrome, or some other

thing. Fainting and falling is always a sign that something has gone

wrong in the body. There has been something interfering in the brain

so it does not function normally.

Similarly, when a minister has put his hand on someone's head and

they faint and fall down, he is the vehicle for an interference in

the normal processes of the conscious functioning of that person.

Also, talking in gibberish is not a normal occurence for a person

unless there is some brain disturbance, such as someone putting

something into the brain.

The Spirit of God does not disturb a person's brain but rather

brings relaxation, peace and enhances a person and balances them so

they are very present to all that happens, instead of fainting.

By the way, it might interest you to know that traditional

Fundamentalist Christian Churches when i was in them, did not agree

with the " speaking in tongues " bit. They warned against the rise of

Pentecostalism... that it was an aberration and not 'kosher'. i did

not believe them then. i do know now that they were right.

I hope this helps.
