Guest guest
Dear All, As you have stated, Chuck, there is a difference between the `lower desires' and the `higher desires'. The `higher desires' are all in the direction of the Desire for God. 'Desirelessness' has a somewhat deeper meaning than the word itself seems to indicate. It can be said that when we are 'desireless', then we are also `surrendered instruments' of the Divine within. This is such a close relationship that a person ceases making a distinction between 'their' desire and the Desire of God, (which is the Holy Spirit/Adi Shakti Within). Therefore, this state can truly be described as a 'desireless' state. Even with one's connection to the Divine, there are still small daily steps to be taken to achieve this 'desireless State'. These steps involve introspection and 'witnessing' one's Self and meditating on the Adi Shakti within. These are the same steps that, once we have our Self-Realization, actually help us to 'establish' that Self-Realization. In other words, we not only start to identify our Self with our Spirit, but we become the Spirit. On the road to 'becoming the Spirit', a person can sometimes be in the 'desireless' State where they feel and know the One-ness and at other times, to forget who they really are (which is the Spirit) and slip up by identifying themselves with their body, mind, or emotions, which results in a feeling of the loss of that One-ness. Then it could be said, that a person is of 'two minds' rather than of the One-ness of Mind, Heart, Soul, and Spirit. This loss of One-ness is a result of a person identifying themselves with the desires of their body, mind and emotions ('lower desires'). Once a person identifies themselves with their body, mind and emotions, it is but a small step to give in to the 'lower desires'. However, as we are steadfast and forge ahead in our meditative, introspective spiritual life, there will come a time when the 'desireless' State will appear to stay and this may not even necessarily be noticed by ourselves in a dramatic way, but only by the peace, joy and satisfaction that we feel. This 'desireless' state is the channel from which comes the manifestation of God's Love not only to ourselves, but to others. It is a natural outflow of the Divine within ourselves in the same way that a Mother's love just flows to Her Children. i will never forget Shri Mataji's love to us all. Here are Her Words for you: - " During all of Pujas and Public Programmes, I raise my Kundalini and put you in My Body. So I know everything about you. The relationship between you and me is so intimate but if you do not meditate, that relationship is not there. I have nothing to do with you. There is no connection. You maybe high in Sahaja Yoga…. get a degree from your leader, but you are nothing to me. I see clearly when you are not meditating. In meditation you grow, nothing else matters! If you are mature in Sahaja Yoga. You will not want to give up meditation, then I take responsibility for you " . (Australian Sahaja Newsletter – June 18, 1993) i hope this helps.
