SYs think that Hindu saris and kurtas makes them better humans. i think love, conscience, compassion, humbleness, simplicity and humility are far, far more important than any Sahaj Cultural Mores. (However, Hinduism is richly endowed with these excellent spiritual qualities and enable humans to understand and imbibe them.) Every culture and religion have qualiities worth emulating. SYs are overall leaning overwhelmingly towards the Hindu dress code. i have always worn jeans and will always do, even when meditating. Why will meditating in a kurta make me a better SY? It is all this external attention to petty details that has led to this unspoken belief. It is as useless as lemons curing diseases. regards, jagbir
Guest guest
Dear Jagbir, Thank you for your answer. i believe this too, for God does not look on the outward appearance, but on the heart. i believe if Sahaja Yoga Organization were more multi-cultural (and dharmic as well of course) in outer appearance it would help new people be more comfortable also. i know that in Kyiv there are about 500 women that mostly don't have their own sarees. When the seven married women are welcomed for a puja to Shri Mataji they are asked to be dressed in a national dress, be it any national dress whether Indian, Ukrainian or any other, so this ruling is not worldwide in Sahaja Yoga Organization that everyone has to wear the Indian Sari exclusively.
