Guest guest
Dear All, Apparently " Dharmapada " is a book of Lord Buddha's teachings and it contains 42 verses which are written by an unknown author. If anyone can find these and post them, it would be greatly appreciated: " Dharmapada is a book of Lord Buddha's teachings. It contains 42 verses. The thoughts in the book represent Buddha's teachings, however, the author of the verses is unknown. According to Dharmapada, a man should enlighten himself from the life of evil, passion, lust, hatred and anger to attain the highest freedom - the freedom to overcome himself. Salvation comes from knowledge and having pure thoughts, desires. Desire and attachments are the cause of suffering. " (http://www.hindunet.org/scriptures/dharmapa.htm) Through the Advent of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, we know that we can get our Second Birth of the Holy Spirit first and through this connection to the Divine, we can continue to grow spiritually in order to attain complete spiritual liberation or moksha. In Buddha's time, it was not possible to get one's self-realization so easily. They had to be completely pure in mind and body before they got their self-realization, and only very few got it. i have found a link which has some of the stories and teachings around the life of the Buddha. However, as usual, please use caution and not believe everything without examining it to see if it agrees with what Shri Mataji has written, because according to Her, all the writings have been altered from the original teachings of the Incarnations, and in these writings this can also be the case. As the Buddha's teachings were generally about Right Living, Right Thought, Right Action and so forth, it behooves us to take what is helpful and useful to us and to disregard what is not. At the very least, i think you will find this to be an interesting link. Guest guest
Try googling under the more usual 'Dhammapada' - there's many translations on the net. The Lankavatara Sutra is also worth reading. , " Violet " <vtubb@b...> wrote: > > Dear All, > > Apparently " Dharmapada " is a book of Lord Buddha's teachings and it contains 42 verses which are written by an unknown author.
