Dear Jagbir, I did not get to thank you for the guidance you provided me in your last posts....thank you, it is indeed heartening to know that someone has not become a strait-jacketed ritual-following moron. I also want to congratulate you for the tremendous job you have done on the internet. I did numerous searches today for a lot of different information, and more often than not, i would land up at your adishakti website!!! I am looking for words of shri mataji on the subject of will-power/willpower. Would you have any excerpts from her on this matter? I would be much obliged if you could assist. Thank you. Ravindran

Dear Ravindran,

i don't think Shri Mataji used the word 'will power' very much, but i know She

used the word 'desire power' quite a lot.

Maybe if you do searches, using the word 'desire power', you will get the

results you are after.

Kind regards,

Violet

Dear Violet, Are these two different from each other? I was actually watching a cd earlier today and she said something about how to be fulfilling desires. I could not understand properly because desire is left side, that is tamasic side, side of stillness. Right side is will power, rajasic and side of creativity. So i thought for fullfilling desire it must be right side which is to be used. Im not clear on this, maybe someone can give some help. Thank You RavindranViolet <violet.tubb wrote: Dear Ravindran,i don't think Shri Mataji used the word 'will power' very much, but i know She used the word 'desire power' quite a lot.Maybe if you do searches, using the word 'desire power', you will get the results you are

Dear Ravindran,

I have learned from Sahaja Yoga that the Left Side is the side of Desire and the

Right Side is the side of Action.

When the Desire Power (Left Side) arises and a person puts into Action (Right

Side) this Power of Desire, then there is a Fulfilment of Desire. This involves

a use of the left and right sides in conjunction or balance with each other.

A person can have all the Desire Power in the world, but if they do not use

their Power of Action due to a weak Right Side, then the Desire will not be

fulfilled. It is not about 'will power' coming from the personality itself as

many believe, but it is about the Power of Action that comes from a strong Right

Side.

I agree with Jagbir in that the 'will power' is the force of the mind, emotions,

or physical body and is more identified with the 'egoic' desires, whereas the

Desire Power originates from the real person who is the Spirit within.

Something that Shri Mataji has said about Desire Power, is that when a person

loses their Desire Power, they will no longer have the will to live. That

statement has always fascinated me....probably because i have sometimes come

across people in my work who have lost the desire to live.

Actually, this understanding of Desire Power that Shri Mataji has talked about,

quite clearly shows the difference between Desire Power and Will Power.

It shows that Desire Power comes from a Higher Source than Will Power, and that

any mental, emotional or physical strength derives its strength from the Desire

Power, and not the other way around.

(Btw, when a person exhausts the Desire Power of the Left Side they experience

fatigue in varying degrees from weary to tired to exhausted. In Sahaja Yoga, we

call it the 'draining of the Left Side or the exhaustion of the Left Side).

i hope this helps.
