Dear All,

As Chandra has put it, " this forum plays a very useful role for Sahajyogis who

are daring enough to think for themselves " .

i have had to think for myself, and to put it bluntly, i do not feel comfortable

going back to pujas, when the collective won't declare the Divine Incarnation

and Her Message, but instead, make Her out to be a mere `meditation teacher'.

The facts are....that She IS much, much, more than just a `meditation teacher'.

i cannot stress enough how important it is to promote Shri Mataji as WHO SHE

REALLY IS.

At the same time, i do realize that it is my job to tell Christians and others,

that Shri Mataji is the Incarnation of the " Comforter " , the Holy Spirit. For me

it is an honour and a privilege to be able to do so, but it is an honour and a

privilege that unfortunately, is not encouraged or promoted from within the

collective.

As this is the case, i can no longer support those who do not declare, promote,

or encourage those who do wish to declare the Divine Incarnation and Her Message

(and in fact, are doing so). i have decided that i will only return to the

collective, when they start being honest, truthful and transparent about Shri

Mataji.

i just saw a beautiful movie " Water " .

" WATER is the final film in Mehta's trilogy on the elements,

following FIRE (1996) and EARTH (1998), which both premiered at the

Festival.

In pre-independent India, set against the backdrop of Mahatma

Gandhi's rise to power, eight-year old child-bride Chuyia hears of

her husband's death. Her father, following custom, exiles her to a

widow's ashram where she is meant to live out her days. Chuyia's

feisty presence starts to affect the lives of the other residents,

in particular 20-year-old Kalyani (Lisa Ray of BOLLYWOOD/HOLLYWOOD),

35-year-old Shakuntala (Seema Biswas of BANDIT QUEEN) and an 80-year-

old whose days are waning. Encouraged by Chuyia, Kalyani (who serves

as the ashram's breadwinner) breaks tradition and falls for young

upper-class Gandhian idealist Narayan (Bollywood star John Abraham),

forcing the widows to question their future and faith. Even Chuyia

is caught in the wind of change. "

" Ms. Mehta brings us into the world of those girls and women

unfortunate enough to have become widows before India´s

independence. Our eyes and ears are those of Chuihya (Sarala), a

seven-year-old widow sent to live in an ashram for widows. She

encounters the vile head of the widows, Madhumati (Manorma), who

exploits the residents. Shakuntala (Seema Biswas) is the only force

that occasionally opposes Madhumati´s tyranny. Kalyani (Lisa Ray) is

the beautiful young widow who befriends Chuhiya--she is also pimped

by Madhumati and the eunuch Gulabi (Raghuveer Yadav). Ironically,

she sent to work by crossing the Ganges. Narayan (John Abraham) is a

follower of Gandhi who falls in love with Kalyani, regardless of her

status as a widow.

Throughout Water, Mehta exposes the cruelties of Hinduism against

widows. Chuhiya, in her ignorance, asks all the right questions

like " Hum apne ghar kab jaayenge? " or " Aadmi vidhwaah kahan jaate

hain? " It is not that Mehta is rejecting Hinduism as a respectable

religion. She is merely raising the right questions--she is striving

to empower those with the means to help those widows who, till this

day, suffer in the same conditions described in the film. No

religion is perfect. Each one has a dark past. Hinduism is no

different. Whether these injustices are innate to the religion or a

by-product of chauvinistic interpretation, one thing is clear:

unleashing and relinquishing one of the skeletons in Hinduism´s

closet will only enhance the quality of the religion.

" We are very good, as different nations and different cultures, to

have a collective amnesia about our own [problems]…[Water] is about

three women trying to break that cycle and trying to find dignity,

and trying to get rid of the yoke of oppression, and if it inspires

people to do something in their own culture, that´s what´s

important. " (Deepa Mehta, as told to the CBC). "

Yes, she is merely raising the right questions--she is striving to

empower other SYs to find dignity, and trying to get rid of the yoke

of oppression and untruth, and if it inspires people to do something

in their own collectives, that´s what´s important. Surely Violet

will not be welcome to the same collective where she revealed the

skeletons that were hidden in their closet. Those management SYs

will ensure that, unless Violet voluntarily accepts to be induced

back into the collective amnesia and forget the Divine Message. Only

those with a strong faith and clear conscience will remain in exile.

It is easy to make the same choice as Violet and mine too if you

know that the Shakti is within. This is a trend that will only grow.
