Guest guest
Dear All, The state of thought-less awareness that Shri Mataji describes (see appended quotes below) can only be experienced when no thoughts intrude. Shri Mataji has taught that this state is only attainable through kundalini awakening, whereby a person's spirit can rise to the Sahasrara... which is the Christian " Kingdom of God " within a person. i find it particularly interesting that Shri Mataji describes the state of thought-less awareness as the " light of thoughtlessness " and also as a " current " that comes again and again. Moreover, She has stated that if a person is in the main stream of this current then in Her Own Words: " God takes you as if on His Hands " . In experience, i believe i have found this to be true... what Shri Mataji has described, and that is why i find SM's description of the thought-less state so interesting. That is to say that i have felt the state of thought-less awareness as a " literal " light (and not just as a metaphorical light). I have also experienced the state of thought-less awareness as a " literal " current (and not just as a metaphorical current). i would not be surprised if many others have too, as it has only been since i read these words of Shri Mataji that i am able to put this experience into words. Shri Mataji's use of the words " light of thoughtlessness " and " current " struck a real chord in me. So... please bear with me while i try and explain what is not easy to explain at all: i have experienced a loving all-encompassing golden light in the thought-less state in deep meditation. At a certain point in my meditation, i have seen and felt this golden light, but i have not seen it with my physical eyes which are shut when i meditate. So... i must have seen it with my spiritual eyes. (The spiritual eyes are the 'eyes of awareness'. i don't know how else to describe them.) However, i did not see or feel this light objectively, as in " Okay... look at that light. Isn't it beautiful! " No... not at all! For no sooner am i aware of this Light entering my consciousness as a golden 'lovingly warm' light... when in that very same instant it takes me in its current by enveloping my spirit completely in it and i feel myself become One with that Light. i am then in complete Bliss and Awareness. No thought; no thinking; just bliss and awareness. (The closest comparison is if you go to the ocean and submerge yourself completely in it and that feels wonderful too. However, when the Light of Thoughtlessness takes you in its current, it is complete consciousness, bliss, and awareness. No physical body there as in the ocean. When this happens, there is absolutely no objective " me " . This sounds really difficult to comprehend, and even though i have experienced it, i cannot comprehend it mentally. It is not 'mentally comprehendible' and cannot ever be. The bliss is the sheer bliss of being immersed in an " Ocean of Love " that far surpasses any human love possible. When this happens... another thing i feel is an 'expanded me' (in consciousness) .... however, at the same time i am 'not me' individually but i am 'everybody' or 'nobody'. The easiest way to say it is with a simple: " I AM " . Any other description just cannot suffice to describe this expanded state. It must be what Shri Mataji calls 'the droplets dissolving into the ocean'. That is what it " must be " ! Also this Light that enveloped me completely.. . i have found that however much 'it' expands... my consciousness expands with it too. It must be so when i have become " One with the Light " so that when the light expands, i expand with it. (This is really unbelievable; i can't believe i am describing this. i have never been able to describe this before.) And everybody else in that Light is a part of that Light too. When i am in that Light, i know that it " is everything " . It is the whole universe. i don't know how it is possible but the feeling and knowledge that it is the " whole universe " is given by this Light. There is 'no other' in this Light because in this Light the " All " is " One " . This Light is... (i believe)... the Light of the Love of God. It is the most blissful love. i am pretty sure it must be the same Light that many NDE (Near-Death- Experiencers) also have experienced and these have been described also. An important thing to mention is that when i have been immersed in this Ocean of the Light of the Love of God... it feels " literally " like i am in God's Hands. i don't feel any body, mind, or emotions there. It is Pure Spirit Only that i feel there. It feels exactly like Shri Mataji described when She said: " If you are thoughtless God takes you everywhere as if on his hands. He makes all arrangements. He knows everything and there is no need to tell him about anything. " i think this is the first time that i have even thought to write about it the way i have written it, because it is the first time that it has dawned on me like that, because it is such a subjective experience. It will be very enlightening to read Shri Mataji's teachings below on this subject. violet " All that happens in the thoughtless state is enlightened. Light never talks. If you switch on the light in the room, the light won't speak or give you any ideas. It would just make everything visible. The same is true about the light of thoughtlessness. First become thoughtless and then doubtless. Then all your doubts go and you know that there is some power that works. It works very fast and is all subtle. You will be amazed how it happens. This is also about time. I never look at a watch. But my real watch is in the thoughtlessness. If you are thoughtless God takes you everywhere as if on his hands. He makes all arrangements. He knows everything and there is no need to tell him about anything. But you must see whether you are in the main stream or not. If you are not in it then you are stuck up somewhere on the bank; then the current comes and takes you in twice or thrice, but again you are on the bank. Then you say 'Mataji, nothing goes smoothly for me'. It won't because you are entangled. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Nirmala Yoga " 1982) " Because this mind, which is just a bubble as I told you and is so limited that it cannot comprehend the beauty, the glory, and the expanse of reality. This mind is just a collection of all the garbage we should say, which we have to somehow or other deny and tell ourselves that I have to go beyond my mind. This so-called mind of mine has done no good for me. This 'mind' of mine which has been all the time controlling me is just like the watch we have made and which is controlling us or like the computer that controls us. We have to be careful that we are the ones who have created this mind and this mind has no business to control us. Now, once your attention goes beyond the mind-only the Sahaja Yogis will understand this point very clearly. When this mind goes beyond the thoughts, then the manipulation of the attention is very important. Then whatever you manipulate means you take this attention to this or to that. You will be surprised how dynamic you become, how effective you become and how knowledgeable you become. Because once you can take this attention to anything you want, immediately there is light on that issue, on that person, on that problem and you see how it works out, how it helps.
