Guest guest
(HSS) New Heading #12 The Holy Spirit and Christ Consciousness (a.k.a. Collective Consciousness) 12. / Heading The Holy Spirit and Christ Consciousness (a.k.a. Collective Consciousness) The Church's one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord, She is His new creation By water and the Word. From heaven He came and sought her To be His holy bride; With His own blood He bought her And for her life He died. She is from every nation, Yet one o'er all the earth; Her charter of salvation, One Lord, one faith, one birth; One holy Name she blesses, Partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses, With every grace endued. The Church shall never perish! Her dear Lord to defend, To guide, sustain, and cherish, Is with her to the end: Though there be those who hate her, And false sons in her pale, Against both foe or traitor She ever shall prevail. Though with a scornful wonder Men see her sore oppressed, By schisms rent asunder, By heresies distressed: Yet saints their watch are keeping, Their cry goes up, " How long? " And soon the night of weeping Shall be the morn of song! 'Mid toil and tribulation, And tumult of her war, She waits the consummation Of peace forevermore; Till, with the vision glorious, Her longing eyes are blest, And the great Church victorious Shall be the Church at rest. Yet she on earth hath union With God the Three in One, And mystic sweet communion With those whose rest is won, With all her sons and daughters Who, by the Master's hand Led through the deathly waters, Repose in Eden land. O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we Like them, the meek and lowly, On high may dwell with Thee: There, past the border mountains, Where in sweet vales the Bride With Thee by living fountains Forever shall abide! http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/c/h/chofound.htm Christ Jesus said: " I am the Vine; you are the branches. They who abide in Me and I in them, they bear much fruit, but apart from Me you can do nothing. " (Christ Jesus - John 15:5) Christ is saying that He is the Vine, and that we are the branches that must cling to the Vine in order to have our sustenance and bear much spiritual fruit. The fruit of the Vine is the grape, and its sweet elixir symbolises the Holy Spirit. When the power of the Holy Spirit awakens within, we can also have the Mind of Christ, or the Christ Consciousness, as it is called. Christ Consciousness means that Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit are as One. The spiritual goal of our life, is also to have this Mind of Christ: " Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. " (Philippians 2:5) However, to begin with, there are two minds. One is the natural mind and one is the spiritual mind. The natural mind is connected with the things of the natural man, which is sometimes referred to as the " lower self " . The spiritual mind is connected with the things of the Spirit, which is sometimes referred to as the " Higher Self " : " But a natural mind does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he, who is spiritual, appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man. For who has known the Mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the Mind of Christ. " (1 Corinthians 2:14-16) Just to clarify, how the Mind of Christ is the same as Collective Consciousness: " Christ Consciousness " means having the same Mind that was in Christ Jesus. It means " the Christ Mind " . The word " Christ " relates to the " Christening " . " Christening, " relates to one's Baptism of the Holy Spirit. And the Baptism of the Holy Spirit has to arise within you. The Holy Spirit is with you, but will be " in you " says Christ Jesus " : " And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that She may be with you forever, that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Her or know Her, but you know Her, because She abides with you, and will be in you. " (Christ Jesus - John 14:16-17) An important thing to remember, with regard to the Vine and the branches, is that each religion is one branch on the Vine, and that the gnostic element or essence of every religion is exactly the same. However, unfortunately men who were after power and money and did not have the spiritual discernment, made every religion end up fighting the other religion, over very petty external matters, when " in essence " they are all from the same Vine! This is not the Mind of Christ though. It is not Collective Consciousness! However, collective consciousness comes from within, when the Holy Spirit who abides with us, is awakened " in us " : " But you know Her, because She abides with you, and will be in you. " (Christ Jesus – John 14:17b) What Christians have not been told, is that the reflection of the power of the Holy Spirit, is located within the Sacrum Bone, in an unawakened or dormant state. While She is in that `asleep state', She is still with us. It is only when She is awakened from that dormant state, that it can be said that She is " in us " . In other words, She has " awakened within us " . She is the reflection of the power of the Holy Ghost and called as " Kundalini " which means " coiled energy " by the Hindus. She is the coiled energy or power of the Holy Ghost. According to Christ, it is only possible to be a witness to that power of the Holy Spirit, when it has been awakened within a person. First the power is awakened within, and then the person is able to be a witness, giving testimony to that power of the Holy Spirit: " But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. " (Christ Jesus – Acts 1:8) Shri Mataji describes the " arising within " of the Holy Spirit, or as it is also called, " the awakening of the Kundalini " : " When this power [of the Holy Ghost] known as Kundalini rises and passes through six centres, it nourishes these centres, which are meant for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual requirements. These [psychosomatic] centres reflect their new state on the genes. These centres are en-'light'-ened. Thus we get our physical side corrected, our mental side corrected, our emotional side corrected and also our spiritual side corrected. Once it [the Kundalini] pierces through the last centre, which is the fontanelle bone area, which was a soft bone in our childhood, it becomes one with the all-pervading power of Divine love. A cool breeze of the Holy Ghost, like very beautiful vibrations, starts flowing through your fingertips. You can also feel the cool breeze coming from out of your fontanelle bone area. This is the first experience of Self-Realisation. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – book, Meta Modern Era – Chapter 11 - 29/9/95) So, the first experience of Self-Realisation is the union of our spirit with the all-pervading power of Divine love. Once we have our connection to the all-pervading power of Divine love, then we have to work out our salvation, or spiritual liberation. The Scriptures put it like this: " Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. " (Philippians 2:12b-13) Shri Mataji explains that the ultimate goal of our life is to become the Spirit: " One has to know what is the ultimate goal of our life. The ultimate goal of our evolution is to become the Spirit, which is the reflection of God Almighty, in our heart. That is self-identity and also self-knowledge. Also, one becomes one with the all-pervading Divine power of love. Our awareness is enlightened by the Spirit and Divine vibrations start flowing through our central nervous system, enlightening our being. We also feel the cool breeze of the Holy Ghost, which is the all pervading power of Divine love, coming out of our fontanelle bone area, as well as flowing through our finger tips and our hands. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – book, Meta Modern Era – Chapter 11 – 29/9/95) Shri Mataji describes a person, who has become the Spirit: " The seeker becomes thought-less [meaning without mental thoughts to disturb them] and thus becomes calm and peaceful. Automatically the seeker starts behaving in a very holy and righteous manner. All bad habits which are destructive drop out. The innocence and compassion overwhelms the nature of the seeker. All perverted sex styles normalise and even the eyes and attention become devoid of lust and greed. The seeker now knows the absolute truth on his fingertips. The eyes shine as a glint of flames [from the Kundalini energy] brightens them. Time loses its grip over the personality and ageing stops. Action becomes inaction, so that even when the realised soul acts, the action through the ego disappears. The conditioning of the past, due to birth surroundings, which were binding, completely drops out and a new holy culture is expressed in the individual. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – book, Meta Modern Era – Chapter 11 – 29/9/95) Shri Mataji comments on the collective life of Sahaja Yogis: " The collective life of Sahaja Yogis [those who have their union with the all-pervading power of Divine love] becomes the theme of very beautiful enjoyment. The Sahaja Yogis get powers of giving realisation to many. That is how Sahaja Yoga has spread to 65 countries. This is the proof that something has happened to the people who have got this awakening within them. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – book, Meta Modern Era – Chapter 11 – 29/9/95) Here is how Shri Mataji describes what " collectivity " or " collective consciousness " really is: " Collectivity doesn't mean that we all should be stuck together with some glue or something, or that we all become like Gibraltar, Rock of Gibraltar. No, it doesn't mean that. It means wherever you are, you are connected. That is collectivity. A collective doesn't mean that you hate that person. No, your connection [with the all pervading power of Divine love] means that you love that person; you're concerned about that person. The connection, the connecting line, is of love and not of hatred. So when you are connected with another person or persons, then you are in collectivity. But people will live together and everyday; break each other's heads Sometimes some of them really give Me headaches, because they are nowhere near the real growth of Sahaja Yoga [their union with the all pervading power of Divine love]. So you may be in America, you may be in India, you may be anywhere [but] you are just connected, and you are concerned. As soon as there's a problem somewhere, into any part of the world, you are connected and you're effective. You can manage. But if you are not connected and you are just `glued together' [then] it's very inconvenient to live under such circumstances. " [Therefore Shri Mataji makes it clear that " pure collectivity " does not amount to going to church every Sunday to meet the same people every Sunday, but that it is a spiritual relationship. Shri Mataji then clarifies precisely, what the nature of this " collectivity " is, that She is talking about]: " I think people don't even understand the meaning of collectivity [which is] where there's not the other, `ananya' (Sanskrit –> no other). There's no other personality. These personalities [who don't understand collectivity] are separated from you because of left and right, or both [in other words, they're not centred in Christ Consciousness]. But you are yourself fully [connected] when you're absolutely detached and your kundalini's dancing. You're alone, yet never alone! " [shri Mataji says that the " pure collectivity " gives you all the security and the joy that you want]: " This oneness with the whole gives you all the security that you want [and] all the joy you want, and that's why Kundalini Awakening means " collectivity " . [shri Mataji concludes that unless a person wants this " pure collectivity " in their being, that their Kundalini will not rise]: " Unless and until you want pure collectivity in your being, Kundalini won't rise. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – Shri Adi Kundalini Puja – Germany – 11 August 1991) The Scriptures also describe this " pure collectivity " whereby what affects one, affects the whole: " And if one member [organ] suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member [organ] is honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are Christ's Body and individually members of it. (1 Corinthians 12:26-27) Therefore if any man is in Christ he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17-18a) When the Scriptures talk about a person being in Christ Consciousness, and therefore being a new creature, according to Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, this new creature is " the Spirit " : " But when you become the Spirit... the Spirit being the collective consciousness Itself... is the Reality. [in other words] the concept becomes your awareness. In your chetana [conscious awareness] you start feeling others within yourself. So what I feel [for example] from Canada to Australia, is the love that people have for each other when they meet, and the way they enjoy each other. When these Westerners go to the small villages in India, [its] the way the villagers just embrace them, and the way they become one with each other. We have never seen people [who go into] politics, fighting with each other, or saying lies about each other. But [there is] just a meeting of these people, like a huge family! The whole system is joy giving and enjoyment. It is so beautiful, that even to watch it, is like watching a very beautiful drama. I have seen this happening in all parts of the country, whereby people may come across Muslims, Hindus, or whomever, that the friendship, love and fondness to do for others, is so great that the people are surprised as to how it can be, that these people who are living together like this, are so helpful to each other and so loving to each other. They never quarrel and never talk against each other. There is no question that people will cut each other's throat because the competition is in loving more, giving more, and understanding. There is no problem in the society of Sahaja Yoga [the society of those who have their union with the all pervading power of Divine love]. (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – Birthday Puja – Delhi, India – 28 March 1983) In conclusion, Shri Mataji explains that Kundalini awakening is a built-in process, like a seed that has an inbuilt process to sprout: " So, as soon as you become a super human being through Kundalini awakening [through the awakening of the power of the Holy Ghost within], you become aware of yourself within, and you become aware of others within. This is the collective consciousness. This is what Sahaja Yoga is. Sahaja Yoga is a system of nature. The way this Creation took place is also Sahaja. `Sah' means with, and `ja' means born. Sahaja means " born with " . Everything is built-in within you, like a seed. If you see a seed, it has a primule within it, to sprout. The seed has the complete power of the tree [that] it is going to be. The whole thing is in the seed! In the same way, in the human seed, the whole picture of what he is going to be is built into the whole mechanism. It is placed within.
