Guest guest
" The Christian Gnostics practiced a spirituality more similar to Eastern traditions than to the Western Christianity we know today. " Gnostic " is Greek for " knower " and it is " Gnosis " or " Knowledge " that they were seeking. Unlike the blind faith demanded by today's Churches, 'Gnosis' meant direct, mystical experience of the divine, which was to be found by individual spiritual evolution to Self-Realization, and not within the confines of intellectual dogma. The experience of Gnosis was trans-rational and non-intellectual. From the Nag Hammadi Library, the Book of Thomas, Christ tells us " For whoever does not know self, does not know anything, but whoever knows self, already has acquired knowledge about the depth of the universe " . Compare this with a tract from the Upanishads, the Indian metaphysical treatise on Self Realization: " It is not by argument that the self is known... Distinguish the self from the body and mind. The self, the atman, the highest refuge of all, pervades the Universe and dwells in the hearts of all. Those who are instructed in the self and who practice constant meditation attain that changeless and self effulgent atman ( spirit/ self). Do Thou Likewise, for bliss eternal lies before you... " In another Gnostic text, the Secret Gospel of Thomas, Christ promises us spiritual fulfillment " I shall give you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched and what has never arisen in the human mind. " This description is not unlike the Upanishadic experience " the Self is devoid of birth and death, it neither grows old nor decays and the accidents of life do not affect it. The Self transcends space and time; what is great is not too great for it to comprehend and what is small is not too small to escape its attention. It is the Self of All " . Just as Christ warned us against sin and encourages moral perfection in the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment, so too do the Eastern texts " No intellectual acumen can help one realize it, it can be realized only by those who surrender to it and who make themselves worthy by grace, by desisting from all that is sinful, who engage in the practice of perfection by constant meditation " ( Upanishads). The most ancient Eastern spiritual texts, the Vedas, of India, tell us that the process of spiritual awakening by which one attains truth -awareness is called 'Self-Realization'. The Self Realized person lives in direct experience of reality -- this is called " Jnana " ( a traditional sanskrit word meaning 'knowledge' or 'Gnosis'). Such a person is called a " Jnani " ('knower ' or 'gnostic' ) or " dwijaha " ('twice born'; first from a human mother to the earthly plane then secondly as a child of the Goddess, or Divine Mother, who gives the seeker their second, spiritual birth, Self- Realisation, into the plane of mystic awareness- gnosis! ). The traditional Indian texts extol the 'Divine Mother' as the Cosmic Matriarch, bestower of the highest treasure of Self-Realization upon Her deserving children. Many Indian mystic traditions say this same goddess is represented within the human being as the divine feminine power called Kundalini. So, Christ seems to be telling us that the kingdom of Heaven, which is a state of God-like perfection and child-like innocence is attained by some inner phenomenon. In the Gnostic Scriptures Christ spoke directly of this as an inner transformation, self realisation. He also told us that the Holy Ghost or Divine Mother is the power by which this is accomplished, but by what mechanism? By constant purification and self perfection the seven vital energy centres (chakras) which govern all aspects of mind, body and soul, are prepared for the awakening of Kundalini. Once awakened by divine grace, the Kundalini passes through these centres, not unlike a string through beads, enlightening each as it passes through. Arriving at the seventh centre (Sahasrara) the seeker's awareness is united with the eternal-self-within. The experience is transrational, non causal, a tangible and real bliss of truth-awareness. Indian mystics called the Sahasrara " Paradise " , " Heaven " or, as Christ has called it " The Kingdom of God Within " . As the Kundalini passes through each of the vital centres, they are stimulated to produce a pure, nourishing energy. The Vedas (Ancient Scriptures of India) describe this energy as a sacred river emitted by each of the seven chakras. Shankaracharya called this energy " spun " . He too described its nature as being like divine water showering down upon him as he meditated in the ecstacy of devotion. Other Indian scriptures call this energy " Paramchaitanya " (energy of supreme consciousness). The miracle of Whitsunday wherein the Apostles became empowered with their spirituality sounds similar to the experience of these chakras manifesting this same divine energy. This contrasts with the way in which the Churches have pigeonholed and categorized Christianity in terms of 'blind faith', 'obedience to the church' and empty ritual. In the Gnostic Scriptures, untouched by the organized churches, Christ urges us to perceive and experience the cosmic order for ourselves and not to rely on so-called scriptural authorities -- such as the churches -- to prescribe it to us. Christ And The Kundalini Knowledge Of Reality Magazine, Issue 8 ------------- Nonetheless, " it is possible to deny that it has come at the earliest stages of its historical development. " Dear devotees of the Holy Spirit, Namaskaar - i bow to the Comforter who resides in you! Without question Jesus Christ is the one who spoke about the Sahasrara, which He called the Kingdom of God within. Two millennia ago it was as difficult, as it is still today, to explain this Divine Sanctuary within to the ignorant masses. It is indeed a most difficult subject to comprehend. (What have SYs understood about it so far, other than its location and petty descriptions?) The only way Jesus could explain was by using parables such as the Seed Growing by Itself (Mark 4:26-29), the Mustard Seed (Mark 4:30-32), the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl (Matt 13:44-46), New and Old Treasures (Matt 13:51-52). Of course the masses did not understand then, and it is the same today. Despite two millennia of trying it is still as vague and unfathomable as ever. But Jesus attached immense importance to this assured mode of liberation and eternal life: " Central to the synoptic gospels is Jesus' proclamation of the Kingdom of God. Jesus' primary mission to his people was to offer them the possibility of eschatological salvation, which, for the most part, he expressed by the term " Kingdom of God. " " So important was its attainment that Jesus even asked His devotees to pluck out the adulterous eye, or cut off the stealing hand or fleeing foot to prevent future sin. It was far, far better to live a hard life without sinning sight or limbs, and be assured of entrance to the eternal Kingdom of God. In short, even the most painful and difficult of sacrifices were petty in comparison to the reward of living a righteous life _specifically_ when the appointed hour and call comes to enter it i.e., during the Last Judgment. It is extremely important to understand that Jesus was specifically speaking of the fulfillment of the eschatological promises, the appointed time when the mysteries of His Kingdom of God within would be finally understood. Only after such enlightenemnt will humans be willing to sacrifice everything for the sake and surety of the final judgment: " The entrance of which Jesus speaks is a future entrance, coincidental with final judgment; in fact, one must pass through final judgment in order to enter the Kingdom of God as future or life. " So how did Jesus expect the masses to enter it in future if the Kingdom of God (Sahasrara) within remains unfathomable, as was the case two millennia ago? That is why He promised to send the Comforter in the name of the Father who will explain all that He was unable two millennia ago. Without question, giving testimony and evidence of Jesus' Kingdom of God within had to be the Comforter's main task. After all, such priceless knowledge would lead to the possibility of eschatological salvation for humanity. Those bearing witness on Her behalf have given their testimonies at http://adishakti.org. Jesus Christ did indeed speak the truth to the ignorant masses who had absolutely no clue what He was talking about. It is this new treasure (of knowledge about the Kingdom of God within) that completes the fulfillment of the eschatological promises: " Indeed, this conception of eschatological salvation is common in second-Temple sources, having roots in the Old Testament. Jesus' conception of the Kingdom of God, however, is that it begins inconspicuously, so that it is possible to deny that it has come at the earliest stages of its historical development. " It takes considerable time, faith, knowledge and intelligence for humans to grasp the priceless valus of this new treasure. To accomplish this immense task the Comforter spent more than three decades of Her life. She has also declared that the Last Judgment and Resurrection has begun. This is the final judgment that Jesus Christ proclaimed one must pass in order to enter the Kingdom of God. The time to enter it during the Last Judgment and Resurrection has come. Nonetheless, " it is possible to deny that it has come at the earliest stages of its historical development. " It is therefore imperative that this message be sustained against all odds at all times. Thus the Kingdom of God within is not about petty chakras and their locations which most SYs are peddling to emancipate humanity. Only fools will take out an eye of cut off a limb to realize the same. Regards to all, jagbir Note: The Kingdom of God within as revealed by the Comforter is the fulfillment of Jesus' promise to " give you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched and what has never arisen in the human mind. " Nonetheless, " it is possible to deny that it has come at the earliest stages of its historical development. " That is why those children entering it are regarded as possessed and demonic by WCASY, the SY leadership and many SYs. Since prior to the opening of the Sahasarara (Kingdom of God) by Shri Mataji on May 5, 1970 no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no hand has touched and what has never arisen in the human mind about the Kingdom of God within, it is possible to deny that it has come at the earliest stages of its historical development. We must therefore collectively persevere to protect and nourish it at this critical germination stage because it will eventually take root and be accepted in the near future.
