Shri Mataji: " Faith is not faith just because I'm saying [something], because

just saying something is 'blind faith'... whereas when you have seen [the

evidence for] it, it is not a 'blind faith'!! But what is this?! That when you

have seen [the evidence for] it, that you still don't believe it?! What should i

call this, when you definitely know that this is happening, but you still don't

believe it?!

Faith is opening your eyes much more to what it is, and accepting that 'it is

so'. If you believe that 'it is so'... that is faith. And then, faith must grow!

Imagine believing that faith is blindness'?! (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi -

" Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

Dear All,

Here is the continuation of Part 2 of " On Becoming, what we are meant to

become " .

regards to all,

violet

[shri Mataji Nirmala Devi has explained that 'real' faith is not a 'blind'

faith, but is based upon the evidence of what we have witnessed and experienced,

so that we will become much more aware of what it's all about. She says it is at

this stage that our faith must grow. She goes as far as to say, that nothing but

our power of faith will help us, and that this power of faith is our 'becoming'

power]:

Shri Mataji: " At this stage, it is nothing but the power of faith that will help

you. The power of faith is the greatest 'becoming' power, because then you

realise that whatever you had known so far, had been of no value! This is

something so great, so gigantic, so dynamic, so 'out of the blue', which you

have never known before, that you become bewildered, and then [in that

bewilderment], you start having faith! (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " -

Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

[shri Mataji Nirmala Devi says that we are 'in Her' and that She is 'in us'. She

says that we can see/know this, because when we move our hands over our subtle

energy body, prior to meditation, it puts us in a balanced state, ready for

meditation. She also states that we can know She is in us, and we are in Her,

because when She blows Her breath on Her hands, we can feel that. Christ also

breathed on his disciples, and said " Receive the Holy Spirit " . (ref: John

20:19-22)

(http://holyspirit-shekinah.org/9_holy_spirit_and_the_breath.htm)]:

Shri Mataji: " Now then, when I say that 'just put your hands like this' and put

a bhandan (see illustration in " Instructions on how to meditate daily on His

Spirit/Shakti " at http://www.adishakti.org/self-realization.htm)..... it

works!!! Then you also start seeing that when Mother does like this (blowing on

Her hand to Herself)..... we all feel it. Then we start feeling that we are in

Her, and She is in us, and we become aware of our 'wholesomeness' and that She

[our individual Mother Within] is our wholesomeness!!! [That is] when our faith

starts growing!!! " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford,

England - 18 May 1980)

[shri Mataji states that the abovementioned cannot be ascertained, and therefore

cannot be analysed. Let's recall that She had stated that we of the West, have

analysed our chakras 'to death']:

Shri Mataji: " However, although you are now feeling your chakras and their

problems, you are again analysing them! This tendancy to analyse everything, is

the biggest problem in the West. Give them any problem at all, and they will

start to analyse it, until it drives them absolutely mad! Analysis is just the

biggest thing, however this constant analysing is just driving them " mad " !!!

Now we have the situation, whereby people are clinging to their realisation, and

on the other hand, they are analysing everything! " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi -

" Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

[so we cannot analyse the abovementioned, whereby we are 'in Her' and She is 'in

us'!!!]:

Shri Mataji: Then we start feeling that we are in Her, and She is in us, and we

become aware of our 'wholesomeness' and that She [our individual Mother Within]

is our wholesomeness!!! [That is] when our faith starts growing!!! You cannot

realise [mentally ascertain] this, as it is beyond analysis! You can only

realise [mentally ascertain] 'dead things'. You cannot realise [mentally

ascertain] 'living things'. This is beyond 'living' [things], so you cannot

realise it [mentally ascertain it], so you start surrendering. "

(Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

[shri Mataji Nirmala Devi describes what happens, when a person starts

'surrendering' to the Divine Within/the Holy Spirit Within/the individual Mother

Within (whichever you prefer to call it)]:

Shri Mataji: " When you start surrendering and the faith comes in, then your

awareness rises even higher, and the small, small, little, little things, which

have become subtler, start departing from you. This is the third state, whereby

you can see [witness] the three gunas [tendencies], but they do not affect you. "

(Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

[For those who do not understand what 'gunas' means, here is a description given

from the 'Sankhya philosophy']:

" In Samkhya philosophy, a Guna is one of three " tendencies " : tamas, sattva, and

rajas. These categories have become a common means of categorizing behavior and

natural phenomena in Hindu philosophy, and also in Ayurvedic medicine, as a

system to assess conditions and diets. Guna is the tendency of the mind and not

the state. For instance, Sattva guna is that force which tends to bring the mind

to purity, but is not purity itself. Similarly Rajas is that force which tends

to bring the mind to perform some action, but is not action itself. Sattva

(originally " being, existence, entity " ) has been translated to mean balance,

order, or purity. This typically implies that a person with more of Sattva has a

positive or even orderly state of mind. Such a person is psychologically kind,

calm, alert and thoughtful. " (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guna)

[shri Mataji again summarizes the three 'states' that She has mentioned]:

Shri Mataji: " So in the first state, you have 'desire'. In the second state,

which is a very big thing, you see the desire 'being fulfilled', but all these

subtleties are [still] mixed up within you. In the third state you see [witness]

them, but they do not affect you! You see [witness] 'catching' ['the

experiencing of psychosomatic blocks/chakra blockages'] but you do not call

catching, catching. You call it 'recording', because you realise you are an

instrument that is just recording, and the effect becomes very small... very

small! " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May

1980)

[shri Mataji Nirmala Devi then states, that a person becomes so powerful, that

the effect of this 'catching' is miniscule. She says that it is only by faith

that is not 'blind', that a person can rise up to this state, which is the

'third state']:

Shri Mataji: " You become so powerful 'within' that the effect of this catching

is very little; you [actually] just record this effect. This is the third state,

which you can only rise to with complete faith. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi -

" Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

Nirmala Devi has given, being retained]

> Dear All,

>

> Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi gave Sahaja Yogis knowledge in 1980 at

Alresford (pronounced as " Alsford " ), that many of us have not yet

had the privilege to read and contemplate. Someone has just sent me

a copy of what Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi has taught regarding

'becoming' what we are meant to become... (thanks Sharmilla!). Shri

Mataji talked deeply about this process of 'becoming', whereby

initially there was only this 'spiritual desire' in us, but this

'spiritual desire' has become a 'leap in consciousness'! For those

who have experienced this 'leap in consciousness', we know that it

is unprecedented, because we could not get the same from religion,

ministers, or books, no matter how hard and desperately we tried!!!

For a start, this leap in consciousness, washes our inner garments

[a.k.a. the psychosomatic system/subtle system] whiter than snow!!!

i know this as a fact, because i have seen the evidence, from an

Aura Photograph! Once this connection with the " Divine Within " takes

place, which Sahaja Yogis call " self-realisation " , we are in a

position to have many subtle, beautiful gnostic understandings,

which i call " Self " realisation, that emerges from our union with

the Divine within ourselves. And then, in Shri Mataji's own words,

" The faith must grow!!! "

birth, that you can cure others, give speeches in [the union of]

Sahaja Yoga, know your own problems, your own surroundings, and

cleanse yourself and others. Nobody could have done it [as

comprehensively] before, in that you have gotten everything in the

one package!!! What a leap [in consciousness] from your very first

awareness of spiritual desire! Things that seemed strange [to you]

at first, have now subtly and beautifully formed within you!

>

> Now we have the situation, whereby people are clinging to their

realisation, and on the other hand, they are analysing everything!:

the legs get analysed; the feet get analysed; even the nails get

analysed! They've even taken the microscope to see and make sure

that the legs are actually being used to climb upwards!!! You see,

the whole purpose [of your realisation] is lost, when you start

identifying with whatever was hanging on to you. Instead, you should

be saying " Finished! Done! I'm now another person! "

>

> The greatest thing in this [new] awareness of yours, when you are

realised, is that the person that was there, is dead, finished, and

gone!!!: " I'm a different person now. " People find it difficult to

accept that, because their ego does not allow them to. The ego says:

" Oh God, how can that be? "

>

> I mean............ to say that you are transformed completely!!

Can you imagine!! You can give realisation to people!!! (Shri Mataji

Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

>

> [shri Mataji says that when She tells people this, they say, " Oh I

know this " , and then they run away, because nobody will believe that

it is true. She says that Sahaja Yogis can give Self realisation to

people, but they just don't 'believe' that they can!!! She gives an

example, of what She is talking about]:

>

> Shri Mataji: This yogi said, " Mother, how can that be? " He has

been working as a yogi for so many years, but to begin with, he

would not believe it was possible, that he could give

realisation! (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford,

England - 18 May 1980)

>

> [it is perhaps not clear to some Sahaja Yogis ( " born of the

Spirit " ) persons that there is a difference between the connection

that Shri Mataji called " self-realisation " and the gnostic

experience that She also calls " Self " realisation.... or realising

our " Self " . Realising our " Self " fully, does not usually come with

the initial en'light'enment that is also called self-realisation,

but this initial connection or " union with the Divine within " ,

enables us to fully realise the " Self " over time. This is a Gnostic

Experience that nobody can give to another person, because this can

only be experienced " from within " , through the deepening spiritual

work of meditation, contemplation, introspection, and faith in the

Divine Within!!! By meeting our individual Mother Within, whom Shri

Mataji Nirmala Devi incarnated to introduce us to, we start to

realise " the Self " !!! She (our individual Mother) guides us, once we

are in union with Her... once our individual spirit is in union with

the Holy Spirit!!!

>

> i know without a doubt, that the connection that is self-

realisation, washes a person's garments (a.k.a. subtle system or

psychosomatic system) as " white as snow " !!! The Scriptures teach

about this. Some of us yogis also witnessed this fact, at a Mind

Body Spirit Festival, as there was an Aura Photographer next to our

stall, and 3 people who had taken their 'before' and 'after' photos,

found that whereas before S.R. their photographs were multi-

coloured, but after their S.R. their photos were " pure white " !!! i

wonder if this was the 'whiteness' that Shri Mataji was subtly

referring to, when She said these enigmatic words]:

>

> Shri Mataji: " So what you have to do about 'Becoming', is to at

least believe [that] yes!!! You are giving realisation!!! After all,

you see it like a white cloth before you. Still, you say it's black,

Hurst Blue! " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford,

England - 18 May 1980)

>

> [i do not quite understand what Shri Mataji means by " Hurst Blue " .

i looked it up on the internet, and the closest understanding i can

get is that somehow, it might be connected to " the blues " , that is,

feeling a bit 'blue'. The following that Shri Mataji says, seems to

perhaps, bear that out]:

>

> Shri Mataji: " So these dealings with the 'Hurst Blue' is the worst

case [scenario]. You are giving realisation. See how [name withheld]

is supposed to be going to the psychiatrist. He can give realisation

to that psychiatrist! The doctor who is going to treat you; you can

give him realisation! Believe it! You can! But when [name withheld]

says this to the doctor, [name withheld] thinks, " Oh, he'll run

away. " But, at least " believe in yourself!!! " (Shri Mataji Nirmala

Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

>

> [so, Shri Mataji uses the unlikely example above, of someone

having so much faith in himself, that he has the courage to tell the

psychiatrist that is going to treat him, that he can give the

psychiatrist " self-realisation " !!! However, it seems obvious that

Shri Mataji is using this illustration to reveal how much faith we

should have in our ability to give someone their " self-realisation " .

She calls this " faith " in one's Self]:

>

> Shri Mataji: " But at least 'believe' in yourself. This is the

place where you 'must' have faith; this faith, that you got

realisation through Sahaja Yoga [ " union with the Divine " ]... that

it's a tremendous power... that there is an all pervading power

which is absolutely dynamic... that you have that power flowing

through you... that you are giving realisation... and that your

[fellow human] brother is something special! (Shri Mataji Nirmala

Devi - " Becoming " - Old Alresford, England - 18 May 1980)

>

> [in conclusion, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi explains what real faith

is, as compared to 'blind faith']:

>

> Shri Mataji: " Faith is not faith just because I'm saying

[something], because just saying something is 'blind faith'...

whereas when you have seen [the evidence for] it, it is not a 'blind

faith'!! But what is this?! That when you have seen [the evidence
