Guest guest
Dear Jagbir and All, I know you have a place reserved for the Divine Feminine (Native Traditions) at http://www.great-spirit-mother.org/ I have found a wonderful American Indian Resource Directory by Glenn H. Welker, which might just be of use in your Native Tradition site. Here are two URLs, which could be useful: http://www.indians.org/Resource/natlit/natlit.html http://www.indians.org/Resource/natlit/natlitlinks/natlitlinks.html This is just a suggestion, but maybe someone (other than myself and yourself) because speaking for myself, am still working on the Holy Spirit/Shekinah, and so is Nicole. But maybe, there would be someone who would like to research Native Traditional Divine Feminine material? It doesn't hurt to ask, and it would be very pleasurable, I would think. For example, the person does not have to be writing things, but just researching for material, that could be used, and then sent to you for this special site. i really believe the Native Traditions, of which we know very little really, would really be spiritual rewarding and enriching, especially as they have been greatly repressed even until today by white Anglo-Saxon determinations of supposed spiritual superiority. Christians have treated indigenous people as pagans, when in reality, the indigenous people have been worshipping the Great White Spirit (a.k.a. the Holy Spirit!!!) [btw. here are some interesting comments regarding the Indian Headdress in the Native Tradition]: Indian Headdress Although we may not know the symbolic meaning of Indian headdress, many people find them to be beautiful works of art. It is believed that the Sioux Indians created what is thought of as the traditional Indian headdress. This is the feathered headdress often seen on warriors and chiefs in paintings and pictures. Only the most brave and powerful of the tribe wore headdresses. [Here are some examples of Indian Headdresses, though there might be even more colorful examples found, with research. In any case, just looking at these, gives me an amazing feeling! This surely must be because (according to Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi) they symbolise the " Sahasrara " !!! The Sahasrara is called the 1000-petalled Lotus by the Hindus, the Gems in His Crown by the Christians, the Niche of Lights in Islam, the Sahasrarapadma in Buddhism, and the Dsam Duar in Sikhism]: http://www.interalia.com.au/pages/1_02_5plmsmasks/1_02_5plmsmasks.htm [Here also are some interesting comments on the custom of wearing the Indian headdress]: Before the invasion on their land of the white man, the custom of wearing Indian headdress spread through the many tribes. However, each headdress varies from tribe to tribe as it represents the culture of each tribe. The individual wearing it would often customize Indian headdresses, thus making it unique to that individual. People always associate Indian headdress with feathers, but do you know what the feathers represent? Warriors earned a feather each time he did something the tribe felt was a brave act. Many times, the first feather earned by a warrior was given to him for being seen as an adult member of the tribe. However, the warrior was not just given the feather. The warrior had to prepare himself to receive such an honor and that often require days of fasting and meditation. Each time the warrior earned a feather, he would either wear it (but he only wore a couple into battle) or put it on a pole used for special occasions. Once he had collected enough feathers, they were then made into a headdress. Because each feather had a special meaning, binding them together in a headdress made that Indian headdress even more special. Only the men, closest friends of the warrior, were involved in making the headdress. The Indian chiefs also " earned " each of their feathers. The most prized of all feathers to receive for an Indian headdress was the Golden Eagle feather. Because the Indians saw the eagle as a messenger of God, this feather could only be earned through hardship, loyalty, and strength. http://www.indians.org/articles/indian-headdress.html [so folks, the Native Indians were meditating. There is no doubt that they were, and are " Spiritual Warriors " . We know that Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi has a lot of concern for those who come from ancient Native Traditions. Here is what She wrote]: " America was invaded by Europeans destroying the peaceful culture of the natives. It is impossible to meet any native in a high position in society in North America. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - first small English book - Chap. 1 - Sahaja Yoga) " In these centuries, rationality at its height, worked through the medium of the white-skinned races who elaborated a linear area derived from rational thinking that all other skin colours were somehow not made by God, who, it was tacitly assumed, was certainly white and most probably Anglo-Saxon, and had bestowed a different colour upon other races as a kind of Divine punishment. This sort of ignorance may appear very funny to us, but armed with this special kind of rationality, or rather with the rationalisations of imperialism and colonialism, they actually killed thousands and even millions of people, plundering their land and making slaves of the population. As a result, one cannot find a single Red Indian in North America living freely and naturally in the traditional way, because they are all locked up in reservations " generously " given to them by the invaders. One has to go to the museum to see their pictures painted with the head dressed as of Red Indians but, strangely, with the faces of Anglo-Saxons. " (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - first small English book - Chap. 1 - Sahaja Yoga) [Here are some remarks by Mr. Glenn H. Welker, himself]: http://www.indians.org/welker/403for11.htm [in conclusion, please enjoy this beautiful story, with a spiritual message, about seeking one's own vision. Jagbir, i know the the Native peoples believe greatly in the Divine Mother, maybe mostly in the form of the Earth Mother, perhaps. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi told us Sahaja Yogis that She was the " White Buffalo Calf Woman " that had appeared and helped them to maintain the sacred ways, and She has now come again, and these Native People need to know that, too. Maybe, something can be written about that also, that is, the White Buffalo Calf Woman. She was the Divine Feminine for the indigenous peoples; Shri Mataji revealed that! Anyway, these are some ideas. Also, maybe in the Divine Feminine (Native Tradition) the stories can be told, that are exceptional, like the one i have appended. The Divine Feminine is also " Wisdom " , and a lot of these stories eschew wisdom in copious amounts, that would behoove all of us, especially today. It would be a very colorful, interesting, and spiritually enriching site, that would complement all other religions on earth.] warmest regards, violet The Ancient One by Bearwalker Ancient One sat in the shade of his tree in front of his cave. Red People came to him and he said to Red People, " Tell me your vision. " And Red People answered, " The elders have told us to pray in this manner, and that manner, and it is important that only we pray as we have been taught for this has been handed down to us by the elders. " " Hmmmm, " said the Ancient One. Then Black People came to him and he said to Black People, " Tell me your vision. " And Black People answered, " Our mothers have said to go to this building and that building and pray in this manner and that manner. And our fathers have said to bow in this manner and that manner when we pray. And it is important that we do only this when we pray. " " Hmmmm, " said the Ancient One. Then Yellow People came to him and he said to Yellow People, " Tell me your vision. " And Yellow People answered, " Our teachers have told us to sit in this manner and that manner and to say this thing and that thing when we pray. And it is important that we do only this when we pray. " " Hmmmm, " said the Ancient One. Then White People came to him and he said to White People, " Tell me your vision. " And White People answered, " Our Book has told us to pray in this way and that way and to do this thing and that thing, and it is very important that we do this when we pray. " " Hmmmm, " said the Ancient One. Then Ancient One spoke to the Earth and said, " Have you given the people a vision? " And the Earth said, " Yes, a special gift for each one, but the people were so busy speaking and arguing about which way is right they could not see the gift I gave each one of them. " And the Ancient One asked same question of Water and Fire and Air and got the same answer. Then Ancient One asked Animal, and Bird, and Insect, and Tree, and Flower, and Sky, and Moon, and Sun, and Stars, and all of the other Spirits and each told him the same. Ancient One thought this was very sad. He called Red People, Black People, Yellow People, and White People to him and said to them. " The ways taught to you by your Elders, and your Mothers and Fathers, and Teachers, and Books are sacred. It is good that you respect those ways, for they are the ways of your ancestors. But the ancestors no longer walk on the Face of the Earth Mother. You have forgotten your own Vision. Your Vision is right for you but no one else. Now each of you must pray for your own Visions, and be still enough to see them, so you can follow the way of the heart. It is a hard way. It is a good way.
