“THE STRUCTURE OF RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE

The self and the other.

All religious experience can be described in terms of three basic

elements: first, the personal concerns, attitudes, feelings, and

ideas of the individual who has the experience; second, the religious

object disclosed in the experience or the reality to which it is said

to refer; third, the social forms that arise from the fact that the

experience in question can be shared. Although the first two elements

can be distinguished for purposes of analysis, they are not separated

within the integral experience itself. Religious experience is always

found in connection with a personal concern and quest for the real

self, oriented toward the power that makes life holy or a ground and

a goal of all existence. A wide variety of individual experiences are

thus involved, among which are attitudes of seriousness and solemnity

in the face of the mystery of human destiny; feelings of awe and of

being unclean evoked by the encounter with the holy; the sense of a

power or a person who both loves and judges man; the experience of

being converted or of having the course of life directed toward the

divine; the feeling of relief stemming from the sense of divine

forgiveness; the sense that there is an unseen order or power upon

which the value of all life depends; the sense of being at one with

the divine and of abandoning the egocentric self.

In all these situations, the experience is realized in the life of an

individual who at the same time has his attention focused on

an “other,” or divine reality, that is present or encountered.”

Britannica Online (1994-1998 Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc.)

" The Self is the Spirit. This Spirit resides in the heart of every

human being and is in a witness-like state. The Spirit is the

projection of God Almighty, while the Kundalini is the projection of

the power of God, of His desire which is the Primordial Mother, or

you can call it Adi Shakti, Holy Ghost or Athena. So the Kundalini is

the projection of the Holy Ghost, while the Spirit is the projection

of God Almighty. The All-pervading Power of love is the power of the

Primordial Mother, which creates and evolves, and does all the living

work. " - Shri Mataji Nirmal Devi

Note: i wish to give evidence that Shri Mataji is indeed telling the

truth when She claims that " This Spirit resides in the heart of every

human being " , a fact that is supported by the Holy Scriptures as well.

This proof is based on my own experience. i still remember that day

because i instantly and spontaneously held my heart very tightly for

nearly half an hour. i also remember SY Bhupinder Singh asking Kash

and other family members not to disturb me when it became apparent

that i was not going to stop, or more correctly, could not stop. i

had to continue holding my heart very tightly as it was bursting

forth with tremendous vibrations/pulsations i.e., should i let go it

may just burst open. There was a very powerful force/power/entity

repeatedly pulsating/bursting open/exploding in the heart that

compelled me to compress it as tightly as i could, while i cried in

shock, joy, guilt, and disbelieve for nearly half an hour! May my

experience give confidence and faith that the Spirit indeed resides

in all our hearts .................... as pure consciousness, and that

Shri Mataji is indeed the incarnation of the Adi Shakti/Holy Spirit as

claimed by Her.

i have said on a number of occasions that i am just a witness whose

duty is to bear testimony and prove, among other things, that She is

telling the Truth! It will help you as much as it helped me.

" Your Wish Will Come True

Kash’s mother had for years yearned for a daughter as she already had

two sons. Kash had heard her on many occasions telling her spouse,

sisters, and close friends that she would be the happiest woman is

ever blessed with a daughter. The prediction of a Chinese fortune-

teller that she would be extremely lucky if ever a girl was born only

intensified this desire.

She then had Arwinder, another son from her third pregnancy in

Canada. Another pregnancy four years later did not brighten hopes and

there was resignation to the fact that fate would not favor her.

One day Kash, seeing the plight and deep genuine desire of his

mother, decided to secretly seek the help of the Great Divine Mother

without his parent’s knowledge. He meditated and emerged through the

clouds into the Kingdom of Sadashiva within. The Primal Light shone

ever so brightly from behind the Supreme Throne of the Great

Celestial Mother the Ruh of Allah sat in Bliss and Joy.

After bowing down and exchanging greetings he asked if Shri Maha

Avatar Shri Nirmala Devi could grant his mother a daughter as she had

been waiting for years for this dream to come true. Shri Satya-Sandha

Shri Nirmala Devi smiled and told him that his wish will be

fulfilled.

On Easter Day 1994, his mother was blessed with a daughter. Kash went

to meditate with Shri Sivankari Shri Nirmala Devi and offered

thanks. She then revealed to him the identity of his celestial sister

in the Kingdom of God, an awesome reminder by the Great Adi Shakti to

all humanity that “in this world Brahma Shakti was awakened from the

very day of My birth.”

" Papa, Mother Said .... "

Kash came back and broke the news to his father. The very moment he

said these words, " Papa, Mother said that my sister is an angel ...., "

his father instantly and unconsciously gripped the heart with his

right hand and wept uncontrollably. There was no stopping him as the

colossal Truth hit him like a mighty mantra. Again and again this

Truth kept reverberating from the center of his heart, and its Cosmic

Waves resonated through the entire universe within him!

In this life She had armed him with the greatest weapon in the

Cosmos — Truth! It was time to blow the conch and summon all

righteous beings to Her Lotus Feet. Each and every one of them is

absolutely assured of Her blessings, protection and liberation.

Forever She will rescue and save them, unconditionally, in any age or

universe. Forever they will be ascending up the Great Spiritual

Spiral of Life, and forever descend, if they so desire, to defend

worlds on the verge of spiritual annihilation. Eternal Life is an

endless adventure for liberated souls. This all seekers of Truth must

know!

Nevertheless, why did he cry so profusely on such a divine blessing?

On December 17, 1997, at 10.24 a.m., more than 3½ years later, Kash's

father found the reason why he had clutched his heart and wept so

uncontrollably. He had to control himself from bursting forth again.

I will give you the Word all the scriptures glorify, all spiritual

disciplines express,

To attain which aspirants lead a life of sense-restraint and self-

naughting.

It is OM. This symbol of the Godhead is the highest.

Realizing it one finds complete fulfillment of all one's longings. It

is of the greatest support to all seekers.

Those in whose heart OM reverberates unceasingly, are indeed blessed

and deeply loved as one who is the Self

Katha Upanishad Part 1, 2:15-17, p. 86.

" You have heard a lot about Paramatma (God Almighty), Atma (Soul),

Adi Shakti (Holy Spirit) ecetera. You have also read about them in

books. Every now and then man talks about Atma and Paramatma. There

have been many incarnations who have told that you should first

realize your Atma because man cannot reach Paramatma without knowing

his Atma. As you cannot identify colors without eyes, in the same way

you cannot attain Paramatma unless you meet your Atma. You cannot

intellectually understand Paramatma. It is only through Atma that you

can understand Paramatma. So far all saints have said, " Be alert in

the observance of your Dharma. Search your Atma. Understand the Atma

that is residing in you. " What is Atma? What work is it doing within

us and how is it related to Paramatma? It is said that Atma is the

reflection of Paramatma in our heart. "

Shri Daharakasarupini Shri Nirmala Devi

Delhi, India — August 18, 1979

Daharakasarupini(609th): `Daharakasa' is the space inside the Lotus

of the heart. She is of that form, i.e., She dwells there.

" Heart, if you see, has a pulse rate and it moves with a certain

sound, and you can even get it to a graph and it is so systematic, it

is so regularized, it is so disciplined that even a slightest murmur,

or slightest change, shows on the graph; is a very sensitive thing...

Now here pulsates the Spirit, the Spirit and not the Power. "

Shri Hrdayastha Shri Nirmala Devi

Navaratri Puja, London, U.K. — August 23, 1984

Hrdayastha (595th): Seated in the heart. Hrdaya is the seat of

the `Devi' as `Kamaraja-bija.' Sri-Ramana-Maharsi, and many sacred

texts teach us that the seat of the soul in our body is near the

heart a little to the right of it. Many devotees contemplate on Her

as seated in the heart, that is Anahata-Padma. The Para-Bija of a

mantra is also known as Hrdaya. Sri-Devi resides in that, i.e., She

is the life and power of the mantra.

Brahman shines forth, vast, self-luminous, inconceivable, subtler

than the subtle.

He is far beyond what is far, and yet here very near at hand.

Verily, He is seen here, dwelling in the cave of the heart of

conscious beings.

Mundaka Upanishad 3.1.7

Why do you go to the forest in search of God? He lives in all and is

yet ever distinct; He abides with you, too,

As a fragrance dwells in a flower, and reflection in a mirror;

So does God dwell inside everything; Seek Him, therefore, in your

heart.
