Guest guest
THE FINE ART OF EDITING OUR LIVES By Shambhavi Chopra The past is merely a play of shadows, the hallucinations of a dance in trance. The dancer loses herself to the darkness of tall shadows, casting her ghostly spell through life threatening playacts. At some point we all move through the dimness of these shadows, searching out the magical rays of spring's delight. Everyone has a right to encircle their lives with encouraging, supportive, compliant and loving individuals. The people we surround ourselves with personally, sometimes are a deeper expression of ourselves, mirror imaging our own mindsets. We must listen to our inner voices for guidance. Relationships must never be borne from a source of guilt or trepidation. Life is far too precious, if not unpredictable to associate with people simply because one feels an obligation. Relationships based on sympathy and denial can be deeply hurtful and judgmental, even under the garb of friendship. The guidance flowing from these relationships is always underlying with strains of deep manipulation, be it mentally, emotionally or financially. The right intelligence to make our own choices is a precious one, guiding our spiritual growth through freedom of expression. Yet there are others who try and control our lives, either driven by their unhappiness, insecurities or the need to wield power. Their need to feel accepted and secure is sought through controlling those around them, whether friends, past lovers, colleagues or even pets. Imposing their will gives them the surety of self-righteousness. As a writer one learnt the art of editing, merely restricting the unnecessary, deleting the less important. My deeper introspection guided me through the fine art of editing my own life as well, be it circumstances, relationships or incidents. Our lives move within the frames of an ongoing movie, scripting its highs and lows, indifferences and passions. There have been times when I painted life's screen with the wonder and beauty of deep love, or the irrationality and doubt of clouded emotions. My holistic expression of life rested deep within me the intuitive power to understand and motivate my higher energies. The intuitive voice empowered me to evolve, guiding me in creating a life flowing with love, light and bliss Editing my own life was more meaningful, not always affording me the greatest pleasure. The baggage we carry is mostly debatable, sometimes joyous, at times painful or remorseful. If our experiences were filled with happiness, it wouldn't have the load of baggage; we'd have the hearth and home to decorate it with. The baggage is a result of unhealthy or stressful thoughts, relationships or associations of the past. Emotional intelligence and a deep trust in the workings of the universe, eventually show us the light of a brighter day. Sometimes removing the channel of slow poisoning is necessary, disassociating from emotionally draining or toxic situations. The secret key to a holistic approach in life is to fill our spaces with more sacred, loving, nourishing and healthy relationships. Relating to an exceptional person in our lives who guides us in consecrating the sacred is the most wonderful blessing. Compassion must first be experienced within ourselves, where we entreat our own soul, mind and body to the healing balm of loving- kindness. The restlessness within our individual souls must be healed before embarking on restoring the anguish of humanity and the Earth. If one's soul is depleted of positive energies and emotions simmering in the coals of negative fires, surely one would be passing on similar strains of energy into an already distressed Mother Earth and her inhabitants. It takes the Vira or brave one to embrace the truth. All life is a blessing to be experienced, in its true essence of reality! My personal sadhana or spiritual practices sought different aspects of Shakti meditation, creating a dynamic field of awareness within and around me. Meditative states guided in attuning my mind to assuage the restlessness, creating a stillness and calm within. Most meditators stir up a hornets' nest with trying to consciously will away negative thoughts or program their mental states through varying techniques. Meditation is lending an ear to silence, where we train ourselves to listen more than being heard. We must be in a state of receptivity so as to perceive the universal truth through calm awareness. Meditation is a tryst with one's inner self, where one consciously works at removing the veils of restlessness, discord and anguish. Our hearts must rise to the sacred symphony of sounds, stringing the right cords to resonate with happiness and peace enhancing our well- being. Ya Devi Sarvabhutesu Dayarupena Samsthita Namastasyai! Namastasyai! Namastasyai! Namo Namah Salutations to Devi who abides in all beings as compassion I bow to Her
