subject Emergency Question

To whom this may concern,

Hello :)

I hope I am finding you in good spirits. I have spend much time on

the Adi Shakti website and I think it is absolutely wonderful. It is

one of the most open-minded and thorough sources of information I

have ever come across. I was wondering if I could inquire an opinion

or more information regarding the " New Age Movement " and its motives

and relations to other beliefs (not necessarily religions).

Please get back to me as soon as possible...

Thank you &

Namaste

subject Re: Emergency Question

" The notion of the anticipated " Age of Aquarius " made popular in a

rock musical of the sixties contributed to the diffusion of this term.

Such a major change in the cosmos—a spiritual knocking of the earth

off its pivot—was a sign that something big was about to happen to

its inhabitants. And those who had turned to spiritual contemplation

via networking, writing periodicals, and establishing clubs were ready

for it... one New Age author calls it a metaphor for being in the

world in a manner that opens us to the presence of God— the presence

of love and possibility—in the midst of our ordinariness. It is a

response to the idea that our planet is sacred and the desire " to

create a world in which humanity, nature and the domain of spirit

work together in ways that are mutually empowering and cocreative. " ...

The underlying faith is a lack of faith in the orthodoxies of

rationalism, high technology, routine living, spiritual law-and-

order. Somehow, the New Agers believe, there must be some secret and

mysterious shortcut or alternative path to happiness and health. And

nobody ever really dies. "

Anthony Aveni, Behind the Crystal Ball, Random House, 1996 p. 250.
