As i have said, " if you have to take a single step in any direction to seek the Divine you are going the wrong way " . That irreversible and final conclusion--the End of Sacred Knowledge--was reached after many years of Her guidance, revelations, experiences, meditation, examination of the Holy Scriptures, and Silence. There is absolutely nothing to seek outside. It is the End of Sacred Knowledge! i want to be Silent for a few days. regards to all,
Guest guest
Dear Jagbir and All, Thank you for these precious hymns and sacred knowledge! The 'A Hymn to the Divine Mother' by Swami Vivekananda, the 'Shri Lalita Sahasranama' by Shri Sankaracharya, and the 'Hymn to the Divine Mother' by Swami Nikhilananda, are all inexpressibly beautiful and clearly reveal the 'End of Sacred Knowledge' - which is to realize the Self! (Jagbir, maybe it would be nice to also add one or all three of these to the end of the adishakti site--for example, just before Shri Mataji's quote of: " Now, the principle of Mother is in every, every scripture - has to be there! " - Shri Mataji, Radio Interview 1983 Oct 1, Santa Cruz, USA.) Since Swami Vivekananda, Shri Shankaracharya, Swami Nikhilananda and many others have spoken of Her, the principle of Mother has to be in every scripture, as the knowledge of the Divine Mother/Holy Spirit is also 'the End of Sacred Knowledge!' a./ In the 'A Hymn To The Divine Mother' by Swami Vivekananda, he is expressing that, 'How can he praise Her?' and that his understanding is 'worth so little' in comparison to his refuge in Her, his deep love for Her! With all the knowledge we have, it is no comparison to Her Love within!--there is the " All " , the whole universe, if we can but recognise that, if we can but see that! How can we even reach the adequate praise; we are helpless. All we can do, is take refuge in Her. That is how She comes to 'speak to us' - from within, through that still small voice in the Silence. That is how She comes to our aid. That--is the 'End of Sacred Knowledge' that only comes through surrender to Her, the Mother, who is the Holy Spirit Within: " What Thou art, the Mother! the All. How praise? My understanding is so little worth. 'Twere like desire to seize with hands of mine The sole Supporter of the universe! So, at Thy blessed feet—contemplated By the Goddess of Fortune Herself—the abode Of fearlessness, worshipped by service true— There, at those blessed feet, I take refuge! " Many people might not know that their 'Voice of Conscience' is their 'Mother Within', who since our birth (and every previous birth we have also had) has guided us in many ways: " She who, since birth, has ever led me on Through paths of trouble to perfection's goal, Mother-wise, in Her own sweet playful ways, She, who has always through my life inspired My understanding, She, my Mother, She, The All, is my resort, whether my work O'erdow with full fruition or with none. " [A HYMN TO THE DIVINE MOTHER - by Swami Vivekananda] (rendered from Bengali) O Thou most beautiful! Whose holy hands Hold pleasure and hold pain! Doer of good! Who art Thou? The water of existence By Thee is whirled and tossed in mighty waves. Is it, O Mother, to restore again This universe's broken harmony That Thou, without cessation, art at work? Oh! May the Mother of the universe— In whose activity no respite rests, Incessantly distributing the fruits Of action done, guiding unceasingly All action yet to come—bestow Her boon Of blessing on me, Her child, for evermore. I realise, I know, that it is Thou Who holdest in Thy hands dread Karma's rope. Is it inherent nature? Something uncreated? Or Destiny? Some unforeseen result?— Who lacking nothing, is accountable, Whose chain of will, untrammelled, grasps the laws, May She, the Primal Guide, my shelter be! Manifestations of Her glory show In power of immeasurable might, Throughout the universe, powers that swell The sea of birth and death, forces that change And break up the Unchanged and changed again. Lo! Where shall we seek refuge, save in Her? To friend and foe Thy lotus-eyes are even; Ever Thine animating touch brings fruit To fortunate and unfortunate alike; The shade of death and immortality— Both these, O mother, are Thy grace Supreme! Mother Supreme! Oh, may Thy gracious face Never be turned away from me, Thy child! What Thou art, the Mother! the All. She who, since birth, has ever led me on Through paths of trouble to perfection's goal, Mother-wise, in Her own sweet playful ways, She, who has always through my life inspired My understanding, She, my Mother, She, The All, is my resort, whether my work O'erdow with full fruition or with none. ('A Hymn to the Divine Mother - by Swami Vivekananda) b./ In his 'Sri Lalita Sahasranama', Shri Sankaracharya writes about 'Shri Lalita', which is the name of our 'Mother Within'. She is the individual Mother within each of us, who has accompanied our little soul/spirit in our each and every incarnation into this body of flesh. She speaks with the 'Still Voice of Conscience' that we have all heard at one time or another. We may think it is 'our' conscience, but no, it is Her speaking! If we but hear and listen! That is why She is also our 'Guru Within', and Shri Sankaracharya bows to Her--his Guru, who is the Holy Spirit, the Divine Mother within: Sri Lalita Sahasranama I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: I bow to Her by whose grace the whole world Is found to exist entirely in the mind, like a city's image mirrored in a glass, Though, like a dream, through maya's power it appears outside; And by whose grace, again, on the Dawn of Knowledge, It is perceived as the everlasting and non-dual Self. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: I bow to Her who, by the sheer power of Her will, Projects outside, like a magician or a mighty yogi, this infinite universe, Which, in the beginning, rests without name and form, like the sprout in a seed, And after creation, by the power of time and space imagined through maya, Appears to be many, possessed of manifold shapes and hues. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: To Her whose outward manifestations, though based on Real, Appear as illusionary, ever changing objects; Who grants to those who take refuge in Her through the Vedic " Tattvamasi " The boon of immediate knowledge of Brahman, To which attaining, a man returns no more to the realm of birth and death. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: To Her whose knowledge, issuing forth through the organs of the sense Like the glow of a powerful lamp placed in a pot with many holes, Vibrates outside in the shape of the thought " I know " ; Whose Light it is that illumines the whole of the universe. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: To Her who dispels the mighty illusion evoked by Maya's play, Impelled by which, unseeing, childish, and misguided men Continually speak, in error, of body, prana, senses and even of the fickle mind, as " I, " Though in reality these are all mere emptiness. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: I bow to Her who, as a man, In deep and dreamless sleep exists as Ultimate Truth itself, When outer awareness is obscured, like the sun or moon in Rahu's grasp, And the organs of sense are all withdrawn; And who on awakening, tells himself, " It was I who slept, " And sees again the objects he saw before. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: I bow to Her who, in Her loving-kindness, Reveals to Her worshippers the eternal Atman, Which — through the changes of waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep, Through childhood, youth, maturity, and old age — Persists as the inexhaustible flow of consciousness, Revealing Itself in the heart as the ever present sense of " I. " I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru seated before me, Who, as a mortal under the sway of maya, and whether awake or dreaming, Perceives that the world is composed of multiple entities, Joined in relation to one another As cause and effect, owner and owned, teacher and pupil, sire and son. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: Beyond whom, for a wise and discerning man, no being exists superior; Who has manifested Herself is an eightfold form As the tangible and insentient earth, water, fire, air, and ether, As the sun, the lord of the day, the moon, of soothing light, and as living man. This hymn to Sri Dakshinamurti clearly reveals the Ultimate Truth As the Soul of everything that has life; Therefore by hearing it and by pondering on it, by contemplating it and by reciting it A man attains unrivalled lordship, acquiring the glory of being the Inmost Self of all, And effortlessly receives, without interruption, the eight unique powers of Godhead. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti in the form of my guru: Seated upon the earth by yonder the banyan tree; I bow to Her who bestows on the sages direct knowledge of the Ultimate Truth; I bow to the Teacher of the three worlds, The Lord who dispels the misery of birth and death. Behold, under the banyan are seated the aged disciples about their youthful teacher. It is strange indeed: the teacher instructs them only through silence, Which, in itself, is sufficient to scatter all his disciples' doubts. I bow to Her who is the inner meaning of the sacred syllable Om, To Her whose nature is Pure Awareness; I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti, stainless and serene beyond measure. I bow to Sri Dakshinamurti, the Mine of Eternal Wisdom, The Healer of those who suffer from the malady of birth and death, Who is regarded by all as their own teacher. I praise Sri Dakshinamurti, my youthful teacher, Who, through silent instruction, reveals the Truth of the Parabraham, Who is surrounded by aged disciples, mighty sages devoted to Brahman. I praise the Supreme teacher, the Essence of Bliss, who revels in His/Her own Self, The Silent One, whose hand is uplifted in the benediction of knowledge. (Shri Sankaracharya) c./ In his 'Hymn To The Divine Mother', Swami Nikhilananda laments that there is no hymn, mantra, prayer, meditation, praise, or proper ritual adequate for 'the Mother Within'. But he has found his Refuge in Her. This can be seen. He has surrendered to Her, which is the most adequate response possible, to the Divine Mother, the Holy Spirit: Hymn To The Divine Mother Swami Nikhilananda I I know, alas! No hymn, no mantra, neither prayer nor meditation; Not even how to give Thee praise, the proper ritual of the ownership, The placement of the hands, I know not, nor how to make Thee supplication. But Mother, this at least I know: Whoever comes to Thee for shelter reaches the end of his woe. II Ignorant of the commands of the scripture, utterly devoid of wealth, shiftless, indolent, am I, Unable to do as I ought to do. Numerous, therefore, are the offenses, I have committed at Thy feet. Mother! Saviour of all mankind! Auspicious One! Forgive my sins. A wicked son is sometimes born, But an unkind mother there cannot be. III Here in world of Thine, O Mother! Many are Thy guileless children; But restless am I among them all, and so it is nothing very strange That I should turn myself from Thee. Yet sure it were impossible that Thou shouldst ever turn from me: A wicked son is sometimes born, But an unkind mother there cannot be. IV Mother of the world! Thou, my own Mother! Never have I served Thee, never yet offered Thee gold or precious gems; And still Thy love is beyond compare. A wicked son is sometimes born, But an unkind mother there cannot be. V Bewildered by the rules of conduct, by the injunctions of the scriptures, I have abandoned, one by one, the shining gods; And now my life has passed beyond the meridian. Mother, shouldest Thou withhold Thy mercy, Where, then shall I fly for shelter, weak and helpless as I am? VI If one who feeds on the flesh of dogs can learn to speak with honeyed words, A beggar gain uncounted wealth and so live long and fearlessly, Simply hearing Thy magic name - Who can describe what must befall one who repeats it night and day? VII Only by taking Thee for Spouse did Siva become the unrivalled Lord — He who is naked and uncouth, Besmeared with ash from the funeral pyre; Whose hair is matted on His head, About whose neck are venomous snakes — The Lord of every living thing. VIII I do not ask of Thee, O Mother! Riches, good fortune, or salvation; I seek no happiness, no knowledge. This is my only prayer to Thee: That, as the breath of life forsakes me, Still I may chant Thy holy name. IX Mother, I have not worshipped Thee With proper rituals and the prescribed ingredients of sacrifice. Many indeed are my sinful deeds! Day and night I have spent myself in idle talk, forgetting Thee. O Divine Mother! If Thou canst show The slightest mercy to one so frail, it will befit Thy majesty. X Durga! Goddess of Mercy's Ocean! Stricken with grief, to Thee I pray: Do not believe me insincere; A child who is seized with thirst or hunger Thinks of his mother constantly. XI Mother of all the universe! If Thou shouldst show Thy fullest mercy, Would even that be a cause for wonder? A mother cannot refuse her son, Though he have done a million wrongs. XII Nowhere exists, in all the world, another sinner to equal me, Nowhere, a Power like Thyself for overcoming sinfulness: O Goddess! Keeping this in mind, Do Thou as it pleases Thee. The End of Sacred Knowledge is the literal illumination by the Divine Mother of the deepest and sacred core of all Holy Scriptures that dispels doubts and darkness, and sets the devotee on the path of Self-realization. The End of Sacred Knowledge is the revelation by the Divine Feminine that She exists in all Holy Scriptures—Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads (Devi/Adi Shakti), Torah (Ruach Elohim), Bible (Holy Spirit/ Comforter), Quran (Ruh), Guru Granth Sahib (Aykaa Mayee)—and is the Power that manifests their eschatological end. The End of Sacred Knowledge is, above all, the most sacred revelation by the Devi that She is your very Self, and that " if you have to take a single step in any direction to seek the Divine you are going the wrong way " .
