According to this BBC report, it has taken almost five years to complete with money raised entirely by those who will worship there. The temple, which is expected to attract hundreds of followers daily, has been built from granite and marble carved in and imported from India. A spokesman for the temple said: " We at the London Sri Murugan Temple are proud and delighted to celebrate our achievement. " It has been a challenging project and we are extremely grateful for the continued support and generosity of our devotees and well-wishers. " This magnificent project will enhance and improve the religious service provisions, thus substantially benefit our Hindu community for future generations. " HPI adds: Hinduism Today and HPI publisher Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami visited the temple in April this year. It is a marvelous structure, with excellent granite work. It is, we believe, the first South Indian style temple to be newly built. Others are still in adapted structures such as former churches, with plans for future new buildings or rennovations. The temple's website is http://www.londonsrimurugan.org/.
