Guest guest Posted February 21, 2006 Report Share Posted February 21, 2006 Chettikulagara temple fete on March 4 2006-02-21 NewsSource: www.hindunet.org ALAPPUZHA: The Kumbha Bharani festival at Chettikulamgara Devi Temple, reputed for its display of temple cars known as `kettukazchas' and the traditional art form, `Kuthiyottam,' would be held on March 4, said office-bearers of the Sree Devi Vilasom Hindumata Convention, which organises the festival. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Chekilil Rajan, president of the convention, and M.K. Rajeev, joint secretary, said elaborate arrangements would be made for the festival. Mr. Rajan said work on the construction of `kettukazchas' would begin on February 26. "The temple cars would be built using locally available wood and other materials," he said. He said training for Kuthiyottam artistes would also begin on February 26. The `kettukazchas' will arrive at the temple by 3 p.m. on Bharani day on March 4. A Deeparadhana would be held at the temple in the evening on Bharani day. There will also be Kathakali and Velakali performance at night.
