Guest guest
We are All Aware of the famous Verse:The guru is Brahma, the guru is Vishnu, the guru is deva Maheshvara. Clearly the guru is the supreme Brahman, to that Shri Guru hail - traditional tantrik couplet. One who becomes a guru in name only commits a great offense. Every day a New Guru is born , we read books and come to know that many more exsist,,,,,,now the big question is which one is right for me?Please read the below to make sure that you are channelled thorugh the Right Guru for there are many many guru One who becomes a guru in name only who commits a great offense 1. 43gurur na sa syat sva-jano na sa syatpita na sa syaj janani na sa syatdaivam na tat syan na patis ca sa syatna mocayed yam samupeta mrtyumOne who cannot deliver his dependants from the path of repeated birth and death should never become a guru, a relative, a father, mother, demigod, or husband. (Srimad-Bhagavatam 5 .5.18)1. 44sei se parama bandhu, sei pita-matasri-krsna-carane yei prema-bhakti-datasakala janme pita-mata sabe payakrsna guru nahi mile, bhajaha hiyayaUnder ordinary circumstances one's own father and mother are worshipable. And yet in every lifetime one gets a father and mother. It is a far rarer thing to get guru and Krsna. Because gurudeva can bestow prema-bhakti to the lotus feet of Krsna upon those who have attained his mercy, gurudeva is the topmost father and mother and friend of every living soul. (Caitanya Mangala, Madhya-khanda ) Mundane scholarship alone is no qualification for becoming a guru. 1. 45sabda brahmani-nisnatona nisnayat pare yadisramas tasya srama phalohy adhenum iva raksatamOne who is expert in Vedic scholarship but fails to understand the position of the Absolute Truth and doesn't recognize Krsna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead will find all his study to be a waste of time. His hard work will be his only reward, and his efforts will be like the labor of one who struggles to maintain a barren cow who has no calf and can produce no milk. (Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.11.18) One who is not a Vaisnava cannot be a guru, even if he is a highly learnedVedic scholar born in a aristocratic family. 1. 46maha-kula-prasuto 'pisarva-yaj-esu diksitamsahasra-sakhadhyayi cana gurum syad avaisnavamEven if one has been born in an aristocratic brahmana family, has been duly initiated with all the appropriate Vedic sacrifices, and has studied one thousand branches of Vedic knowledge - if he is not a Vaisnava, he can never be a guru. (Hari-Bhakti-Vilasa 1.45) Bogus gurus 1. 47paricarya-yaso-lipsum sisyad gurur na hiOne who accepts disciples for personal service and fame is unfit to be a guru. (Visnu Smrti )1. 48guravo bahavam santimsisya-vittapaharakamdurlabham sad-gurur devisisya-santapa harakamMany "gurus" take advantage of their disciples, plundering them for whatever they may have of value, exploiting them for sex, and using them to amass wealth. A real guru - one who can remove the miseries of his disciples - is very rare. (Purana-vakya ) The above is a small tip to how to choose and know that the Guru you choose is a Wise Guru. The above also is a small experience that I went through that I would like to share with you All. As the famour saying All Five Fingers are not the Same well ALl Guru that we meet is not always the right one. Pranam, Babihta Messenger with Voice.
