Guest guest
Two devotees (lived about 2 or 3 centuries ago - not known exactly) of Lord Murugan by name Mari Chettiar and Sivachariar who lived in Madras used to have a darshan of Sri Skanda at Tirupporur every Krithigai. Since no transportation was available on those days, they used to walk and go have darshan of the Lord whatever difficulty came their way. Once, during a krithigai there was a heavy downpour and both of them were unable to proceed further. Murugan appeared before them and asked them to dig a particualr place, wherein they found His idol. He also said that they need not come all the way and a temple will be installed in the city itself. Lord asked them to carry the idol to the city and also said that, the place where they feel the idol to be heavy, they should keep the idol there and build a temple for Him. Thus, the Kanda Kottam temple came into being. This is not an ordinary temple. Having darshan of the Lord continuously for 21 days wards of all evils and life takes turn unexpectedly - this is out of my personal experience. vijayalakshmi
