I was disturbed to see the new statue at Palani when I went there in Feb. Is it correct to do as we like, by bypassing the centuries old original idol of mulavar and doing all abhishekams to the new idol. Will the belssings of Lord be there for this. On whose authority are these being performed? I have also heard that it is written in one of the stone carvings in Palani that there is another exactly similar Navabashana idol hidden in the hill and when the old idol slowly gets completely destroyed the new one will appear and then it will be installed. I dont know if it will happen in our life time.
