skandha puranma composed by rish veda vyas is the largest one

comparing the total volume of shlokas.this puranam deals with rishi

kashyapa prajapathi,maya and the three sons and one

daughter.abduction of indrani the royal pattamahishi of devendra and

dakash yagam and subsequent sati devis self immolation on yaga fire

and shivas tapas and kamadahanam and paravthi parinayam. and the

avatharam of murugan from the third eye of lord shiva.shree murugan

is the incarnation of sanatkumar one of the sanakathi munivars.the

purana also mentions about the nava veeras and veerabahu devar who

as a messanger goes to surapadman.here lord murugan is full of

sympathy to suran and there is no samharam of soorapadman.he

transforms in to two one sheval and the other as tree.

skandhapuranam was translated in to tamil by kachiappa shivachariyar

and had its first inagrual reading at kumarghostam murugan temple at

kancheepuram close to srikamathi amman koil.the storey is known to
