Kukkai, could be 'guhai', but it has many more meanings in other languages, including, Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu .. etc. Kukku Sri Subrahmanya lies in a place with profound influence of almost all these languages, with an exception of Tamil(directly), but I thing there are quite a few references of this Shrine in some 'Ilakiyams'. Another thing i forgot to mention is that those are " DEEP Snake Pits " - not ant holes! As I said earlier, I will be writing a detailed article on some temples.
