Guest guest
Hi, I am disturbed by what has been said about this pictures of worshipping MURUGAN - in certain forms. This just adds to my confusion and sorry to say my irritation to. Do we place importance to the pictures? Why do we pictures, idols to worship? Are we really worshipping the glass, the paper, the wooden frame, the colours - the materials used to paint the picture, to frame it. Are we worshipping the elements ( i cant' think of the right term for the materials used to scuplt the statutes at the moment)? Or are we worshipping the omnipresent, all encompassing, the infinite, the light , the GOD who has no beginning or ending, no form, that is within and without. all pervading, eternal, who is the illusion, the delusion and the question and the answer, the TRUTH itself! I do apologise for what i am writing but it hurts me when i read such remarks that one will not be married if one worships HIM in certain form. Why and what is the meaning of seeing HIM in the various forms? Does this mean, I have to change the way I picture at different stages of my life for the various needs I have at the particular age? Do I change my parents, my siblings and friends because at some stage of my life they will not be able to help me out in some particular aspects, so I discard them then? I once again apologise for writing in this manner but it really hurts me much when I read such heresy(that is what i will term such remarks). A few days ago, I read someone writing that original PALANI ANDAVAR is now back at the sanctom sanctorum in Palani. The person went on to write, that the person (which I attribute is Jaya) should be punished by MURUGAN. Is that the GOD - whom all the saints have professed and wrote in their songs and poems as the all loving, all merciful GOD - who will punish? Does that mean HE is punishing each and everyone of us when we go through this life on earth? Why such things are written about HIM whom is none other than LOVE ! I am sorry my state of mind at the moment - is hurt and at the same time infuriated when i read such things. Once again , I do apologise humbly to those concerned about my remarks, you may or may not understand the context which i have written this mail. But i do have no other motives other than simply my humble and simple understanding of HIM as - HE IS LOVE AND TRUTH! Just for your information, I have always pictured and worshipped HIM as Kumaraswamy - and I am still single - is that the reason for me being single? MURUGA! Guest guest
Dear Kala, Tnks for expressing your views, even I wanted to express the same views, I had decided and have dedicated my whole life to Murugan and if he wishes me to be single or to even die now, i am willing to accept it. It will be certainly for my betterness. But it is very sad and I am unable to digest the messages saying that if you worship him in some form you will get married soon and will be blessed with children, but in another you will not get married and not get children. I am humbly requesting only one thing to all the members, If possible please post only positive and good messages about our Lord and not any other messages which can hurt or give rise to any contradictory views about our LORD to sincere devotees. Guest guest
Hi all, I am really annoyed the way Kala has stated in the mail....and i aplogize if i hurt any ones though in my reply. When u look into TAMIL (look once again Tamil under HINDUS) orgin we analyzed by the world cultural organization saying that TAMIL Belief and worship on god is based on Idol,(i.e why most peolpe were not happy thats why even if we find a stone which has some value then we place it in right area and start the worship. This our TAMIL Priciple and Culture. But some times there is wrong sense and belief which leads to some confusion on the way we worship. Reagding with photo/paper ---why we use this bcoz it makes us to streamline our thought before going to worship...thats why people go on pathyayatra all along to palani...not for just walking. And my info on Punshing (Jaya) ....first of all we (plz mind as a whole community) laid our belief and priciple on worship to accept our knowing or unknowing worng doings and take us to the right path and motcha...i am not sure whether god is giving punishment or not but I AM DAME SURE THAT HE MAKES A SITUATION(may be punishment/dictation)TO REALIZE ABOUT ONCE misdoing. What these people had done on replacing the idol - has really burned the Heart of real murugan devotees - punishing in the sense she was able to realize the mistake thru the defaet he tasted in Lokshabha election. I want to clear here i am not reflecting my own wish - but i want to reflect the Mass mood. Muruganukku arogara!!! kandhanukku arogara!!! Guest guest
Dear Kala, I have been keeping track of messages posted and some have been very enlightening. The silly messages - I simply delete. I was too tied up with work to comment on your message of 27th June 2004, but its been in my mind all along. Why worship pictures This is the technique of Dwaita or Duality. God and man are intricately bound to each other; God - the Supreme Spirit - dwells in Man. Technically, therefore, there's no need to pray the way people are doing, have been doing and will continue to do long after we're gone! Its hard for mortals to realize and experience the Supreme Spirit within them. Only yogis and rishis have achieved this after enormous tapas or austerity. Until we experience the God within us, we will continue to seek him from outside ourselves. This is because we experience the world thru' our five senses. Worshipping images of God, His idols etc. are a means of connecting with Him thru' our senses (we see his image, we offer worship with our hands, we hear his prayers, we recite his praises, we accept prasadam by consuming it etc.). This is the Dwaita philosophy - Me and God are two; by devotion and worship, we will become one. That devotion is critical. So you may be a Dwaita mindset all your life, but God will still manifest to you according to how you visualize him. So continue to pray as you've always done. Just do not compromise on the devotion and love for Him. Kumarasamy In North India, "Kumar" is synonymous with "Kanwar", meaning bachelor. Maybe that's why they feel that one cannot get married if one prays to Him. In South India, however, "Kumar" is "Endrum Kumaran", or "Forever Youthful". The Northies are probably not aware of this point. Marriage The Hindu belief is that marriages are made in Heaven. So, going by that, every girl child is an aspect of Sita, and her Ram has already been born. When the original Sita was forcefully seperated from her Ram, it was Hanuman who played a key role in uniting them. This is why worshipping of Hanuman is believed to unite every Sita with her Ram. I am not in any way discrediting Murugan as a matchmaker. Just sharing a point that I was never aware that people prayed to Murugan (in any form) to get married. A final point Kala, you're a daughter, a sister, a friend, a student, an employee and so much more. You play so many roles - each role has got its own script and its own costume. The script you use with you mother wil be different with what you say when talking to your father - even though you're in only one role as daughter! Which one is the real Kala? The daughter, the friend etc? All of it or none of it! That's exactly how God - in Hindu belief - operates. He plays innumerable roles, dresses accordingly (so we associate each costume style to each deity), and functions within the paramaters of that role. But God is the same. He is all of them. According to your need, you connect to the role which is most appropriate. It definitely does not mean you're discarding Him in His other forms! I have shared some of my beliefs which are the result of reading, learning from the learned and the best teacher of all - Life! Best wishes Patricia Dear "N.
