Guest guest
Yes, its important to get a spiritual Guru. But the beauty is that you do not need to go in search of your Guru. When the student is ready, the Teacher will appear. (Not mine, but I was lucky to come across this and it was reported to be from the scriptures). Not just spiritual, but even in worldly matters, when you want to obtain something or some data, you begin your search. The data is all there, but your search focus makes you more alert to recognize it. So you "find" it. Do your spiritual exercises - whether it is praying, reading spiritually uplifting material, performing spiritually relevant actions or anything that is connected to spirituality (in a positive way, NOT tantra or black magic!!). Do it naturally, without any stress or inconvenience; then you'll recognize spiritual gurus who are already there (a guru is also yearning for a worthy student to pass on his precious wisdom for posterity!). You connect with the guru and the rest is history. Sometimes, your choice of guru may inform you that your guru is elsewhere; but he/she will also guide you to your guru. The Universe as guru Finally, without any formal initiation, a natural guru operates in the universe. Every experience, every person from whom you learn something useful, something that can benefit you in a positive way - is an aspect of the supreme Guru. (Sometimes, I'm forced to attend some public talk or the other. A lot of it is boring, a lot of stuff I already know. But often, I'll pick up just one new point that will benefit me a lot. Eg. it could clarify my thinking about some point, or it could give me a useful clue to handle a particular problem that has been perplexing me, it may answer some long persistent question in my mind etc.). Then I'll know that its the Universe guru who has guided me to my answer. But you must never fret; just make peace with your doubt and be on the lookout. I'm very human, still error-prone, still attached to some people instead of loving them (there's a sea of difference between attachment - called Paasam in Tamil - and love which is really God!), and still paying the price for attachment. But I've had my share of enlightening moments, and what I've shared with you here is my experience. If you find it helpful, good. If not, trust me, and keep looking. You'll find it. Guest guest
Dear KK, u hv raised a question for which many want to know the answer. as per various relegious heads, we should hv a guru. but if u go through the qualifications prescribed for a guru, i am afraid, we may not be able to find a suitable one ! i personally feel that whenever our normal routine ways of life is getting changed to spiritualty by the inflence of any particular person, that very same person should be our guru. for example, my useless, lazy, selfish, purposeless etc., etc., life changed dramatically by the influence of my guru Sri A.S. Ragahavan, Head of Thirupugazh Anabargal unit. Regards, V.Hariharan Kannan Krishnaswamy <kannan_newcastle wrote: Dear all, I was dormat for a while, nice to see messages from other members.
